In two weeks am going to be taking a long unexpected road trip going through some bigger cities and staying in them for a night. Does anyone know of a source where I could possibly get CAT protection shields in a relatively short time? I am in central AZ BTW

It loos like MillerCat might have them but theirs only protects the front.

UPDATE: I ended up ordering from Cat-Security and having it shipped three days. I called them up and he said he has them in stock and it will ship Monday. I hope this isn't the guy with the the bad reputation that was sketchy on shipping and I hope he didn't lie for a sale?

I paid $700 with shipping but still worth it for my piece of mind and cheaper than stolen cats. I am traveling back to the Midwest for work training so I cannot afford to wake up and have my CATs gone and not get there.

    01/10/2022 UPDATE:

I received an email this morning saying they have shipped along with with a tracking number

Check local dealerships. Several Toyota dealerships are now offering a dealer installed option, and stocking the shields. Expensive though.

Hit a local fab/machine shop, ask them to save you a worn/broken bandsaw blade. Take the blade to a muffler shop and have them cut it into strips and weld it along the tubes at either end of the cats. Sawzall won't cut the similar carbon content material. Cheap, fast, effective. Take a case of Modelo with you to the shop when they call you to pick up your "cat shield"!

    It's good
I wonder if the heat of the exhaust is enough to anneal the blades over time?

@TRDFerguson got one from a fabricator in AZ. Says Semper Fi on the shield but don’t know if that’s the name of the company or not. Could pick it up on your way out of town

Doubtful, plus the visual deterrant would likely be enough.

Get some fake vomit and pour it out under your car under the cats whenever you park. Or fake dog shit, or something undesirable.

Contact Desert Eagle Offroad on FB. Or call him 214-287-8960. When I bought mine he had them in stock. Got it in 2-3 days. Only thing is it doesn’t really protect the rear cats but something is better than nothing.

Someone needs to come up with some exploding ink packs or something for when they try to swipe your cats.

    Alot of them
Most of them have the Desert Eagle plate (Toyota does not make their own) but it doesn't fully cover the rear. Alot of the dealers have marked them up really high.

That's what I'm wondering, the main plate can be upgraded but the back piece looks like it might not be as thick, and from the YouTube video I saw, it might be bendy. But the video showed very little (like they often do!)

What are some of the prices you heard? I ask because i live in north Dallas Texas area and call my friend who is a master tech at a dealership. I asked him if he knew a metal fab guy or knew where I could get a plate. He texted me a huge stack of plates powder coated in the parts dept. I know what I zelled him so I was just curious. After I had him install it, I looked underneath and yes it is a desert eagle plate and kinda tough to get the back cats ( well 1 of them ) but def not impossible. Something for me is better than nothing but I wish I had full deterrent. I need to figure something out

One of the guys posted that his dealership had them for 500-550. I paid $309 shipped from Toyota of Katy when I bought mine roughly a year ago.

I think that Toyota of Katy is in the Houston area. They have an extremely bad problem with cat theft right now. I can def see they would be charging quite a bit nowadays

Why not just order you a rear cat plate from @Classy63 here for full protection? After all, his plates are compatible with the Desert Eagle ones.

Honestly, I didn’t know that. All I do know is that his wait time has been pretty long. Maybe he has rears in stock. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it out

Cat Security is legit and not the one being warned about. I have one of their plates on my daughter’s Prius. Does the job.

I really wanted the Valhalla Shield but I am leaving in two weeks.

This was an unplanned trip as I usually keep my truck in the garage at night and I have secure parking at my work. I will be going through Albuquerque, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, and Des Moines and staying overnight in or around a few of those cities.

I paid $100 3 day shipping on the shield I ordered just to be safe and have it to get installed on time.

Too crazy expensive and I will need the cat shield anyway for when we go to Phoenix or on vacation. The company was willing to fly us but I do not like flying especially now. I enjoy driving and I will be able to haul back some good Midwest beef with my cooler in the back.

@IowaGuy I feel you, I recently took a 6 day road trip from FL to VA and back and was sweating bullets the whole time. I ordered the Valhalla in Nov and plan to have them before my next trip to Savannah in 2 weeks. Each morning coming down from the hotel (some in industrial areas) I was nervous :)
