Not many companies that make traction bars for the 8 foot bed, unfortunately.

There's no limit in 4Hi. Mechanically nothing is really different besides the front driveshaft now spins.

As for the comments about keeping it perfectly straight, as long as the tires are rolling they'll slip easily so the faster you go the less issue of binding there is. Mainly you want to avoid 4wd in a tight turn on high traction.

Are you geared and supercharged? Are you sure the front is breaking traction? I don't have traction bars and never experienced that, not to say it can't happen but that's amazing you'd unload the front enough. The lift height I'm sure doesn't help, but I'd think that's a relatively marginal lever arm increase.

And in regards to traction bars, you could buy some and sleeve and weld them to extend them I would think.

Not geared but do have the Stg II SC. Yep the front lifts until the one of the fronts loses traction, spins and starts back down then it lifts up until the other front tire loses traction - up and down repeatedly. Not very good for the front diff. I don't have the skills or desire to make my own traction bars. My back tires don't wheel hop in 2WD either, just spins.

I wonder if the longer wheelbase has anything to do with it?

One would think being an 8ft bed that would help keep everything planted. I assume everything is tight,, no broken shocks, nothing lose?? In four wheel drive I have always seen and heard that both front and rear grab, and off to the races!:). Put some weight up there?? Best of luck.

How many of you are stock height, lifted or lowered? I know I'm different, but I plan on lowering my 4x4 before slapping the s/c on. Have the 2/4" drop kit waiting in garage. Kinda just curious about the speed performance differences on each, s/c'd

Lifted 2.5/1.5 with 33s. I don’t think the lift/lowered aspect effects straight line performance other than you probably have bigger and heavier tires if your lifted.

I'm definitely not stock. Not sure on lift height but my 7k pound rig moves pretty good even on 37s

I've also read that there's no upper speed limiting factor to running in 4WD. There's just no changing between 2WD/4WD above 60mph which we all know is restricted by the ECU.

My front end lifts quite a bit under hard 4WD launches as well, but only spins a tire if the pavement has some sort of debris/contaminant on it. Stock gearing/tires, TRD sways F/R, Fox TRD Pro shocks.

I’ve seen Shrek that owns DAP say when he races his truck he launches in 4x4 and then after takeoff switches to 2x4 on the fly and it bumps out of 4x4 at the 1-2 shift. Sounds like it would be hell on the driveline but he claims it never damaged anything. Lol

I assumed it was for less power loss through the drivetrain. :notsure:

There is no mechanical limit to how fast you can go in 4x4 really. I’ve done 165 mph in my Tundra in 4x4 with no issues.

There’s some dirt drags happening this weekend at a farm nearby that hosts sled pulling and…well, dirt drags. Very tempting to go see how it would do. It would be fun to give the local rednecks in their domestics a little surprise! Im most worried about the driver in the other lane losing control and wrecking my truck though. Probably not worth it.

Haha that’s one way to look at it. I was watching the video of all of the races from last years event on youtube. They separate them by gas and diesel and whether it’s “modified” seems like. Fastest gas trucks looked like a tuned ecoboost and an old Chevy with who knows what under the hood, but the competition was pretty slim.

Dragy has been ordered! I got a 2 year protection plan after reading some reviews. Sounds like they sometimes stop working randomly and then your just SOL so I figured it was worth an extra $16.

Amazon so it should be legit. Agreed that’s why I figured it was worth it and I literally never buy those plans lol. Sounds like when it works it’s super accurate though.
