For me personally, still super easy. The V12 Ferrari. I’d probably go with the 599 GTB Fiorano, which is far from the fastest Ferrari. We all have different interests which is fine. Maybe I’m just a different breed.

I'm with you here. I think the Teslas are pretty cool, but there's lots of cool cars and trucks out there. Yes, electric is brutally fast (and relatively cheap) but there's ways and plenty of vehicles that have been brutally fast for a long time, and unless that is the only thing someone is interested in then all the other vehicles on the road are still relevant. There's a reason Miata's are so popular and they're slow as shit.

Plus, for me at least, I live in what some people would consider a "rural" area. A short drive to the big city is 100+ miles round trip (on the interstate at 80mph) and has 3000ft of elevation change. That drive by itself will bring most EVs to their knees, and that's a standard day trip of let's go get food or go shopping or offroading. Now take that to going to Las Vegas, or Salt Lake City, or visit my parents in Colorado (which the Tundra with a trailer can barely make it between gas stops on the interstate) and there's zero selling point to an EV for me. I'm not worried about engines going anywhere, not worried about fun cars going anywhere, and I still plan to dump ungodly amounts of money into everything I own in a war to make my vehicles not the slowest on the road :D

i wonder if the cybertrucks tri motor model is the same as the plaid? Probably not, i think the tri motor option was around $80k

Not sure but this article is saying it is expected to have the same option. 1K HP+TQ is insane even on a big truck.

    https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-model-s-quad-motor-report/

I would keep my Tundra if an aftermarket hybrid kit was available. Weight, capacity and cost would need to improve. Vonnen's Shadow Drive for Porsche is an example. This one is only adding 150 bhp probably safer for the transmission.

There are so few places to let any of these ultra fast cars stretch their legs, to me it is pointless and dangerous unless its closed course. 1/4 mile racing is kinda dumb and road racing is for the rich. You want a thrill? learn to ride a motocross bike or a mountain sled.

Well that is where the Plaid (or any EV actually) makes a compelling argument. They all have insane 0-60 times, which is the one performance metric that you can actually enjoy on a normal road. Top speed, who gives a shit, but how fast can you get to merging speed on the interstate is totally relevant :D

I would get an EV with 100% recyclable batteries. Until that technology exists your 8 year old battery pack will end up in a landfill somewhere.

Got the tuner today, was easy to load the tune, had a question and d3 answered in 5mins.

Loaded the 93 tune and took it for a drive, first impression, it moves, will find sometime to get the vbox hooked up.

Alright guys, just some updates on D3's module, Dinesh has been great, he answered my 100 questions so far since earlier this year and was able to provide support via email last night.

    - First gear power restriction is definitely gone, (I tried to conduct 0-100 test today to compare, the weather was similar to ones previous, in 2wd I literately spent good 1/2 second sitting sideways)
    - The throttle response has improve A LOT

Overall I'm very happy with it and we are working on datalogging, he mentioned supercharger files will be ready next week.

Please note guys, I'm not affiliated or paid by D3.

Dumb question - can you save and restore the stock tune?

I would break something if you took off the restriction. I know me.

however...clean up the shift to 2nd.

I’d love to learn more about D3 and their ability to remote tune supercharged trucks. The price and apparent user friendliness is definitely right, and from what I’ve heard so far his customer service and response time is pretty good. It would be great if he would join the forum so we can ask our million questions.

The dude that installed my S/C has a track record of awesome cars via HPTuners. Alex Pietz.

    Prospeed is another tenured shop.

I would want to hear D3's track record. it seems he is just a computer dude.

I wanted my installer/tuner to have a working knowledge of engines & engine building.

being able to simply modify a map is not convincing enough.

    D3 bring the info.

I'll repeat a previous post...Alex said there is a lot more in the motor, but the base tune was perfect "for a guy like me".

taking it past 6psi is possible, but I would want the tuner to tell me the foul lines before I drive it hard.

anyone can can get HP from this motor, and have no liability for leaning it out at the top when I get into it. I have to replace the motor, not the tuner.

I want a tuner that can provide me a tune that will not easily break my daily driver.

In the manual says you can, I had to hook it up, and choose "save stock calibration", you can return to stock file.

I don't think he's going to do remote tune supercharged trucks, last time I brought this up he mentioned he would prefer you either come to him or someone local who can use the software, best to email them.

Again, I'm not affiliated with D3, so I tried to do my homework before handing over the money, they did build a turbo engine for the new Camry, and they have had good track record on the Lexus forums, he also mentioned he had tuned the Tundra on dyno which is what his based maps are based off, and now Harrops also mention D3, that gave me some confidence.

Slight change of topic, but those of you with a Harrop especially…how frequently do you check your supercharger coolant loop and have you had to add coolant to the system since install? I have 500 miles on mine since install and on 3 occasions I’ve had to add a splash of coolant…maybe 1-2 ounces to keep it at the specified height in the reservoir which is 1” below the top or about 1/4” above the tubes in the reservoir. I always check it when cold. My mechanic who did the install did say that the bleeding method required to be used wasn’t the most effective so he did say to keep an eye on it as air bubbles may work their way out and I’ll have to add some. I’m just wondering if at some point I should be worried that the interior heat exchanger bricks have a leak as some of the early Harrop units did. The reservoir is very small so it will definitely show changes in the system capacity pretty quickly. The loop holds about 1.5 gallons total.

i have added a few ounces after install. I guess the bubbles burped out.

I check it when i check the oil. not had to add any since initial topoff.

I also had to add a tad regular coolant to the overfill - maybe some got out during the install?

Thanks for the input! Yeah most likely because part of the install is replacing the coolant crossover pipe to the Harrop one with a pulley on it. I was given the remainder of the jug for both my Toyota coolant for the engine loop and the remainder of the jug of the Ford coolant for the SC loop when I picked my truck up.

Why Ford coolant in SC system, why not the Toyota coolant?

My Magnuson was the same way for what it's worth. I think I topped off the coolant reservoir just a little maybe two times shortly after the install. Since then the fluid level has remained consistent.

The manual for the Harrop states to use one of two coolants, one was a Ford coolant and the other was a GM coolant. That being said I was told by both Prospeed and SDHQ that they use Toyota coolant without any issues. I actually told my mechanic to use Toyota but he is a by the book kind of guy so he tracked down the specified Ford coolant and used that.

Right on. Nothing wrong with going by the book.
I was just kinda wondering if there was a specific reason.

Something as awesome as a Harrop supercharger mounted onto a 5.7L V8 needs something to taint it. Ford coolant is the perfect ingredient.

Perfectly balanced as all things should be.
