Whatever this forum told me to do
    Exactly...this right here...

I am thoroughly enjoying this ride. not, the least bit concerned about trade in value. I'll get what i negotiate.

I'll get at least 8 years out of it...i traded in an '06 Sequoia for it! that ride was bullet proof.

It is all about the perceived value. Did I have fun modifying my Tahoe? Absolutely. Did I do some minor mods to the Sequoia? Yes.
Do I want to keep the powertrain stock? We shall see.

Is the 19-20 on the magnuson website a new thing? I haven’t looked in a while. I see the power numbers are different that an 18 or prior. Also a note about a small starter issue on 20s. Looks to me like they’ve got a tune worked out.

That is new...wonder why the hp and torque dropped a bit.

    And this:
**Attention model year 2020 Toyota Tundra starters will remain energized for 3-5 seconds as a known effect of the calibration. Note the starter will NOT remain engaged once the engine is running and therefore will not have a detrimental effect on the starter or ring gear.

5 seconds feels like an eternity when your starter is cranking.

For anyone that didn’t see, VFtuner just announced support for 2020-2021. The problem is finding a shop who uses it to tune I guess.

Am I reading this right, you pay $600 just to be able to tune your own truck…doesn’t actually provide a tune? Things have changed since the last time I paid for a tune back in 2013.

OV tune also have an SC tune pack coming out shortly. This is for the YWF and YWL SC'ed 5.7. But as I understood, the non-sc'ed ecu must be flashed first to TRD SC tune. And once that done the ecu ID will change to YWF or YWL. Then, the tune packs will work. So my question is who can flash the ecu with TRD SC tune? Anybody here knows a tech who works in Toyota dealership?

I could be wrong here, but my understanding is you pay 350 for the software and OBD2 port dongle/cable and then you can buy a separate tune pack for 250 that contains some base tune files which you can use as a base and then further modify them and dial it in for your truck. He basically changed the way his business operates, I don’t think he really writes you a personal custom tune anymore. I had a custom OVtune on my non sc 2010 before I got my 2017. If he still did things like he used to I would have just purchased a custom remote tune from him for my supercharged truck. Now I’m probably going to do a remote DAP tune.

IMO it’s not worth it to tune a Tundra in California. I need a tuner that I can reload the stock tune whenever I need to. Aside from bully dog, which doesn’t support my 2019, everything else is too heavy on the cost vs gain spectrum. Every other vehicle I have owned it was just buy a tuner and be done. Would still rather own my tundra then anything else, it’s just weird compared to GMC and Ford.

Toyota doesn't leave much on the table if you have a stock truck. Once you get into the boosted life the $600 for VF or HP Tuners is kind of a drop in the bucket. For N/A I agree the cost model doesn't work, for boost it's a necessity imo and should just be factored in when looking at how much it costs.

I'm glad. If one of us can avoid blowing up our engines its a win. I figure we can learn from the lessons of others.

On a separate note am I reading the map correctly, a 1.3 PR lands us on the 70%+ VE island at ~5000RPMs?

    Re: lean codes.

Well I sprayed the shit out of every connection with carb cleaner (while idling).

    nothing, nada, zippo.

I figured since I work/park in a damn dusty environment, I'll spray/clean the MAF as well.

been a couple days - no codes.

is it fixed? I doubt it.

does it run well? damn straight.

I for one, am eagerly waiting for the Hummer EV, a 9000lbs truck that could potentially do 10s 1/4 mile on 35s.

I've been reading rave reviews for Rivian as well .

    I'd consider the F150 electric.

Rivian would do well to release the SUV first....if they turn out to be a viable company.

I like the F150EV, not sure on the headlights thou, I think Rivian is very viable based on what I've seen from work, strangely the Maverick Hybrid really pique my interest.

I would be inclined toward the Rivian, ugly headlamps and all. I watched a video that mentioned that the truck would be out first and there may already be some in the wild.

I’ve never been so uninterested in something so fast with 4 wheels as an electric car/truck. The future looks dismal for car enthusiasts. Everything will be so fast, and yet so boring all at the same time. ICE powertrains are what make different cars unique as they all sound and drive differently and give you a visceral experience. Everything electric will sound the same (like nothing) and drive the same. Who cares how fast a car is if it’s boring and has nothing to separate it from every other car. Given the choice on your last day on earth, do you grab the keys to a V12 Ferrari or a Tesla?

Make it a little more even. A V12 Ferrari or a Pininfarina Battista maybe?

EVs are great and I love the idea of instant torque and little maintenance. Even the long range Tesla's are plenty fast for me. But having gone through a road trip with my Brother who has a LR Model Y, I don't think it's ready to have an EV only car when on a road trip. Super inconvenient hunting down superchargers and what not. A lot of automotive journals have came to the conclusion that if they were to do a road trip, it would be with a gas powered car.
