I found a used Anderson WHD for sale locally for $250. It comes with all the parts and instructions plus and anti-rattle attachment. I have read some mixed reviews on these from they are the greatest WDH ever to don't bother. This hitch lists for $600 brand new and is rated for 14,000 lbs.

Anyone running one of these, thoughts ?

It's not directly related to your question but I thought when it came to WDHs you want the weight rating to be close to the weight of your trailer. Like if you have an 8000 lb trailer, you want the 8000 or 10,000 lb hitch, not the 14,000 lb hitch. However, I believe on certain hitches all you have to do is swap out the bars for lighter ones (not sure if that's the case on this hitch or not).

I read similar reviews and was close to buying one of these when I was looking, but ended up going with something else. However, that seems like a pretty good deal and might be worth trying out. At the very least I bet you could get what you paid for it if you didn't like it and decided to sell.

I assume you are referring to the No Sway?
I run one with my cargo conversion, and have a spare hardware set to put on my new car trailer when I get it. My folks have one for their Airstream.
They work very well when set up properly. That is the problem that most people have, they don't set them up properly and end up with loose chains which give no weight distribution and no sway control.
The customer service is awesome. Even if you buy used, they take care of you. If it is the old model with the chain flange that does not pivot, contact them to get it replaced. They will send you a new kit with the upgraded friction material and flange. Then you put the old one in the box and schedule UPS to come pick it up. All at no cost.
I already had the 2 5/16" kit and purchased a 2" kit at a pawn shop dirt cheap because it had been there so long. Contacted Anderson about getting new friction cups and they said they would exchange the hitches at no charge.

I run the Anderson WDH with my trailer. My tongue weight loaded is 920 lbs, total trailer weight 6,500 lbs. I worked with Tiger at Anderson Hitch. He's great!
The latest version is awesome! No sway at all and I'm actually transferring weight forward on my truck.
PM me if you need addional guidance. I'm happy to share my scale tickets and what I've learned.

I might message you if that’s ok. I just ordered an Andersen WDH for the travel trailer we just bought. Did you feel it decreased any squat on the rear end?

Oh yes! Take good measurements both sides, front and rear, unloaded and loaded without WDH providing lift. Now, the Anderson Hitch is limited in its ability to shift weight compared to the torsion bar types. If your travel trailer requires 1200 lb bars then the Anderson Hitch won't work as well. I'm successfully transferring enough Wright to the front and back to the trailer that my rear squat is only about 3/4 inch. The Anderson Hitch is pulling it up about 1 inch.
Yeah. PM me. There's a lot of info involved.

Great design on these hitches. There are no bars to deal with. Definately buy it!

I sold my Equal-i-zer wdh I’ve been using for 4 years and got the Andersen early this year. I tow a travel trailer that’s about 6500 lbs loaded and the hitch weight is around 800 lbs or so.

The Andersen has been great for my needs.
In my opinion the Equal-i-Zer, using torsion bars, is a bit better at distributing weight but had a lot of disadvantages. It’s way heavier than the Andersen and requires a good amount of grease to keep it quiet. (Nothing like coming into a campground late and having that thing creak and groan for all to hear, then getting greasy taking it off and putting it away)

The Andersen is super quiet, requires no grease, does a better job at sway control, doesn’t bounce, and is very easy to set up. Andersen has some very informative vids on YouTube on the proper installation and adjustment. Get it right and it definitely keeps the squat where it should be.

Here are the pics in the add. My trailer is a 17 ft toy hauler that we use for a camper and no toys. It is probably 4000 lbs loaded with our gear. I probably don't NEED this hitch, but a little more stability and weight distribution would be nice for a piece of mind and handling.

I think you can also backup while using the Anderson and not have to disconnect it?

The Anderson Hitch setup that you bought, based on the info your provided on your trailer, is absolutely perfect for your setup. Yes you can backup with the Anderson Hitch. Proper setup is the key but is easy to achieve and change on the fly.
My trailer is tall and 18 ft. It is a huge sail with a side wind. I honestly get zero sway in side winds. No white knuckle driving for me!

That should be a good setup for your trailer. It looks like it’s one of the newer ones that has a collet to keep the friction material around the ball from backing out. It’s the black ring under ball in the pic. It was a problem with some of the earlier models. Andersen was very good with taking care of their customers with any problems.

No issues whatsoever with backing up. I think you’ll be happy with the Andersen.

True, but not with this WDH. This is a completely different type of WDH, so you don't have to match your weight with the hitch's rating. The Andersen rating refers to the max it can support.

The newer models have the black cap ring on top to keep the cone from pushing out over time. The newest model has the welded ring (as in above picture) on the curved bottom plate. The model before the current has a hinge plate (hinges on the bottom pin), the model before that did not have the black cap ring and had a welded ring on a triangular bottom plate.
You want the one of the models with the black cap ring. However, Anderson swapped mine out free of charge (shipping included) after I originally purchased the old model.

The model numbers are based on ball size and drop length of the shank.

This is the one I’m looking at and it’s $200 used but wasn’t sure if it’s the newest one out. Is it?

Level the trailer, measure height of coupler with trailer level.
Set ball height about an inch and a half higher than coupler.
Connect coupler to ball, stop lowering tongue when it connects.
Hand tighten nuts to get slack out of chain, then tighten nuts 4 additional turns.

Brackets should have been installed following the above steps with 2 threads showing on the eye bolt when the brackets were pulled back to get the slack out of the chains.

The red bushing doesn’t look compressed so your not transferring much weight.
Cut a link out. And try again.
May need to remove two. If the bushing isn’t bulging you’re not transferring much weight

I did not see your measurements, have you been to the scale? Maybe you have more tongue weight than you realize

so my front doesn’t move a millimeter unless I really crank it down to about eight threads showing versus six threads showing. The top measurements are not trailer loaded and the 2 bottom measurements are with the trailer loaded and Anderson hitch on with 6 threads showing.

Okay, let me try that. My trailer is 6400 dry and 820 of tongue weight not sure if I’m to heavy but I’m hearing a lot of people are in my range if not heavier and they’re not sagging. The disappointment is also my RAS allowing for sag like this. If it wasn’t for my Timbrens I would sag even more
