I traded in my Tacoma, and picked up this supercharged 2015 Tundra TRD Pro yesterday (in Phoenix, AZ). The previous owner did quite a bit of work to it, some of it not to my liking - but we can change that as time goes. It looks like the p/o went through the 4 Wheel Parts catalogue and threw about 10k worth of parts on it. I’m wondering if anyone recognizes it and/or knows more of the history of the truck? I searched on here before posting, but couldn’t come up with anything.

The free ones provided by the dealerships list location and service history, which was helpful. One owner, came from NV. It’s just a little confusing when someone puts that much money into a truck and then trades it in - I’m concerned I’m inheriting someone else’s problems I don’t yet know about... haha.

A lot of Pro Comp parts on it - 15 years ago we used to call them “Pro Crap”, but maybe quality has improved since then? Not crazy about the extra width either. I’ll need to drive it more to really form an opinion.

A lot of guys like to spend so they build to how they want it. There we're alot of 2020s sold lately so the original owner may have moved up a few years. These trucks are solid, so I wouldn't be too concerned with inheriting issues from someone else. As far as the width, you may be stuck due to all ot the fenders being redone. You definitely don't want your tires tucked in the wheel wells with those having been modified.

i Wouldn’t worry about there being a problem because of the work done. Some people just get bored. My Tacoma I traded in had about 12k in work done the year I had it. Just got bored and needed more room/towing. While I did pull most the parts off some I couldn’t. The dealership sold my truck in a day for about 500 more then they paid me for it. I know I’m bad when it comes to keeping vehicles but some people are much much worse lol. The tundra has always been my favorite and never would have gotten rid of my last one but at the time I couldn’t afford the gas. So this one I plan on keeping at least until my oldest starts driving.

Appreciate the reassurances. I think I got a solid deal given all the work done. I’ll just keep it as is for the time being and enjoy it. I’m back to having a smile on my face when I hit the gas. That poor Tacoma (2019 TRD 4x4) couldn’t get out of its own way.

I put like 25k into my New Tacoma and then dumped it for a new Duramax that I kept a month then traded for a new Raptor that I traded for a New Tundra. All babied and well cared for.
I wonder if the Tacoma owner even knows how good a deal they got on it. Like how would they know it has a custom 800.00 ecu/transmission flash, what gear set i put in it, that the rear leaf packs are custom one offs, cv shafts boots upgraded, ecgs in the front diff, Xpel Ceramic coating, let alone custom ordered skids that took 6 months to get etc.
whomever buys my used trucks is always getting a premium deal.

Agreed. The tundra OP got looks awesome. Supercharged, and warrantied I’m guessing.

Why didn’t you like the duramax or raptor?

I suppose anything is possible. In thinking about it more and based on some of the comments, I think the person probably got bored with it and wanted something new.

    Thanks. I got lucky.

Be happy man...that's a great truck...I went thru similar concerns when I bought mine with an already I stalled TRD SC...I test drove a platinum trim stock truck and I will never complain now...the SC still makes my bits move...you lucked out it's a Toyota and not a "domestic" with that work done! Much faster then a raptor or anything GM in truck format...my tuned 07 dmax was nice but the cost if ownership on the tundra is much less...and overall, better.

it looks like a good looking truck. but to each their own. but it's a Tundra so overall it should be fine. I like the front bumper by the way. I hope you keep that. welcome and enjoy your new ride.

The Duramax was slow and too big to drive in my neighborhood it was in the shop 5 times in the first month.
The Raptor was nice it was over 70k and I wanted to sell it while it had high value before it got old and broke, I had a engine flash that added 100 ft lbs torque that was fun. I felt like its build quality was poor compared to a Tundra but overall I couldn't see it lasting for 100k miles without major issues. It cost me about 180.00 a month plus the 900.00 tuner to own it for 9 months.

A lot of people on this forum seem to have to swap trucks every 2 years even though nothing has changed but they need the latest and greatest Tundra. I wouldn't be worried.
