Curious of anyone owns a Tundra AND a Tacoma?

I am keeping my Tundra, just thinking of adding a Taco for various reasons.

    Cheers,

    Crunch

I kept my 2010 Silver Tacoma, which is stock except I just got all terrain tires less than a year ago. I have the seats out of the back, just needed room for “stuff”. And my 2015 Black Tundra is my fun truck!!

    Sure!
2002 Tacoma regular cab 5spd lifted 4x4 for playing in muck & getting in little places. It's the toy. For the kid in me.
2003 Tundra TRD access for actually hauling stuff & a comfy ride. Room for peoples in this one. For the adult in me.

Look for a 2nd gen Tacoma with the 4.0 if you go this route.

I kept my 2015 double cab short bed taco, and I have a 2018 crewmax tundra. I drive the taco everyday for a car and I use the tundra as a truck. It mostly tows trailers. I thought about trading the taco but I live in the rust belt. I decided to keep the tundra in the heated shop during winter and keep driving the taco. Once I started paying $40+k for a truck then it is time to make them last longer. If I keep it out of the salt for the first five years then it should double the service life of the truck. From a driving perspective I'll take the tundra every time. The gas mileage really isn't that noticeable to me. I don't watch it that close and I don't hammer on the gas and play race truck. I have no proof of this, but the new tacoma has driven a ton of guys over to tundras to get away from the 3rd gen taco platform. I bought a 2015 taco on purpose to get the last of the 2nd gens. I also bought a 2018 tundra to get the end of this driveline. They are very proven.

Sold my taco for the tundra but we still have a 4Runner in the garage. Sometimes I wish I had kept the Taco as a toy, but I got good $$ on the trade.

2nd gen comes with a tried and true engine. The new 3.5 is all about MPG and no power.

The torque ranges of the 4.0 are much better suited for truck use. The 3.5 is a car motor in a truck. To get the torque numbers you are after you need way higher revs. The 4.0 holds gears longer on hills and inclines. Drive both and you will immediately see the difference.
