I just added an air/fuel ratio gauge on my 19 Tundra. It was done because I installed a Magnuson supercharger. Problem is that after trying 2 different gauges neither of them will work for more than 15-20 minutes after warmup. Once the engine is up to temperature they just drop to the lower part of the display and will not work again until the engine is fully cooled.

First I tried a Glowshift and then a Holley and they both do the same thing. The sensor is installed just across from the factory one and is positioned correctly to keep moisture out so that is not the issue.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this type of gauge?

@dirtydeeds knows about forced induction, I would get in touch with them

I'll give them a shot if I don't hear from anyone. Thanks.

I have the Magnuson as well, but no gauges at the moment. Looking to add AFR and boost gauge.

Someone should be able to chime in and assist.

A bit more info... It is a wideband O2 sensor for the gauge and I am wondering if the gauge stops working when the sensor heater shuts off. From what I have researched the heater is on from cold start up to the point it senses that it is at the correct operating temperature. Also I have tried an O2 extender to move it further out from the bung and now 3 different O2 sensors, one on the original Glowshift gauge and 2 on the Holley. The Holley gauge is the EFI wideband model.

Is there any "open air" configuration needed prior to introducing to the exhaust stream? I had an Innovative Motorsports wideband that required to turn on while out of the exhaust to calibrate, then reinstall and use. Another thing to consider is placement of the sensor, most wideband sensors I've installed say they should be at least 18" from the exhaust port on the cylinder head, or it can overheat...and at an angle where moisture won't collect on the sensor, which sounds like you have covered.

Have you checked with Holley or Glowshift to see what they say?

Yes when I had the GlowShift I did have to do an open air calibration before installing it. The Holley does not require that as supposedly they use a custom made sensor that is calibrated correctly out of the box. It is more than 18" from the exhaust port and is clocked correctly. It is directly across from the 1st factory sensor and that one is fine. I think i will get with Holley to see if they can shed some light on this.

    Thanks armyoffoo!
