I'm looking to resurface my front steps. They are in mostly good condition, with some cracks. I filled the cracks recently and want to resurface everything for a uniform appearance now.

I've looked at Quickcrete Re cap, and Sakrete flo coat. None of these get great reviews....but I'm thinking some of that is due to user errors.

Has anyone used one of these? Is there another brand I should look at?

I just etched, resurfaced and coated my back concrete porch. 800 Square feet. Getting ready to do my front steps and walkway, another 800 square feet or so. Resurfacing doesn't necessarily mean completely putting a new layer on. It came out pretty well, only thing I would have done different is rented a concrete sander. Where I filled in cracks before coating still show up. They are filled but can still see the lines. Concrete porch was poured in 1974. Still solid and in one piece, not hard to do at all, just time consuming. Mostly due to rain. I looked at both the Quickrete and Sakerte and went with something different, a polymer coating. Walking around in bare feet no longer feels like walking on concrete. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and followed their instructions.

You can do an overlay, not sure how easy though if your inexperienced. Don’t use any quikcrete or sakrete shit. If you have a concrete contractor store in your area go talk to them and see what products they have

There are lots of epoxy type coatings. Google concrete resin coatings or similar.

If you have some swimming pool installers around, ask them about custom pool deck and patio surfaces. There are all kind of good permanent resins with designs, patterns, colors, etc. The technology has come a long way and company logos, sports logos, etc are all done in big buildings and stadiums, etc.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. For now, I'm going to leave it alone and possibly resurface in the spring time. When I do, looks like Ardex CD might be much better than the big box store stuff. I'd rather pay more to do it right.
