Nope. I have two small kids. One in daycare and a wife who is an RN in an emergency room. I’ve been exposed to far worse.

I heard about body bonfires around ground zero yesterday, so it may be far worse in China than Chinese officials are saying.

Could go either way. Media is not helping keep people informed , but rather good at causing ignorant mass panic buying.
My Tribe has always been "prepped" for all kinds of things , so im not worried , but i am paying attention to the situation.
Keep washing your hands and treat this like any other flu/ bug and most people will come out on top.
Now , my more immediate concern is what is going on that we are not being told about? Most big new stories are smoke screen for something we are not supposed to know about.

I'm not worried. They made this virus in China and released it upon it's citizens to stop the protests.

If I get a winch on my 2WD, can I overland with the BASTRDs and SGU?!
Wow, this thread already full of jokes. Yes, I’m worried about it. Cautious anyway. Was planning to spend this spring break in Japan where my niece is stationed with the Navy. Fairly certain we’ll stay stateside this year.

This is one time I’m grateful the US went more rigorous on quarantines than other countries, and right away. Even with that, we had person-to-person transmission by the first few known infected that flew in here from China. And those got on flights to Washington, Illinois, possible took public ground transportation, so it’s still possible we’ll see more cases from those originally identified as infected, before quarantines were set up here.

For me, it’s not only that Japan was less strident than we about where to limit visitors traveling in from, in early weeks, but more about being on any international flight, all that recirculated air for ~20 hours. I feel bad for those passengers held aboard that cruise ship— more recirculated air, pretty much guaranteeing exposure to the virus for everyone on board.

This thing’s already gone ‘round the world, and I think deaths in China are far above those officially reported. I figure we’ll know in the next couple of weeks whether it will be really bad elsewhere. But this is far worse than regular flu, owing to the ease of transmissions at earliest stages of infection, before some even recognize symptoms.

Setting aside any possible conspiracies and government cover-ups, this is just another virus. Viruses change and adapt, often called mutating, to better survive. That means they become resistant to our bodies' defenses and to drugs that we develop. This one looks like it mutated just enough that it has a decent mortality rate for seemingly healthy people, if we can believe the statistics reported from China. Like somebody said earlier, exercising good sanitary habits will help protect us. But those of us that say we are not concerned are only saying that because it's not in our backyard. If my family and I were on a quarantined ship or if my town was being quarantined for this outbreak, you bet your butt I would be concerned.

I'm not concerned, but it's pretty interesting that the protests in Hong Kong seem to have just magically disappeared.

Not worried about the virus as it's death rate is very low. I'm more monitoring how the various countries and global organizations handle this. China tried to censure the first doctor that raised the alarm. This was well documented on the BBC, not some conspiracy website. The WHO has got their head up their azz and spending more time patting China on the head than trying to help. Last week they announced they're "putting together a team". Clowns. Then there's the global impact to the economy as China's industry shuts down.

We don't need conspiracies when our elected officials can muck everything up on their own...

Quit smoking, manage your diabetes and hypertension, improve your immunity by getting enough sleep. Very interesting vid how "slow wave sleep" helps and how our society has been burning the candle at both ends. This is partly why seemingly healthy people mount a cytokine storm.

No more concerned than I am about the seasonal flu; which I'm also not concerned about.

I really think there's no concern unless it's locally endemic. The scientific minds peg SARS-CoV-19 at a case rate fatality of 1%, by comparison seasonal flu is 0.02%. For every 100 infected, they say 15% need ICU, so it's the volume of infected that would stress our health care systems. Note the CRF for SARS was 9.6% but it didn't spread easy.

I will feel more comfortable when this starts coming down.

This Coronavirus same as Ebola ,SARS,swine flu all basic money laundering by the CDC and pharmaceutical companies .CDC already asking for $600mil to fight Coronavirus without even single death in the Us. There is 20,000 deaths in the us alone every year from regular flu and media is not talking about it thats because pharmaceutical companies already got their cut making the vaccine.

I am watching closely. As an RN I received training on personal protection equipment this week. I have a beard so pretty much full suit! We only have one negative pressure room on my unit.
