My joining is a bit premature. I don't have a Tundra yet. Looking to purchase a 2014-2017 Crewmax 5.7L 2x4 hopefully in 2 to 3 months. I'm a retired mechanic and just got rid of a '93 Ford Exploder :D and selling my '87 GMC Sub. I have been lurking in the shadows on different Toy Tundra forums on the interweb and researching newer Rams, GMs, Ford, Nissan pick-ups and I am going to pull the trigger and get a Toy Tundra. I own classic vehicles but I am looking for a dependable daily driver to haul & tow stuff. I decided to join this particular site/forum because there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable folks and do it yourselfers here.

Welcome! Aside from reliable, these are good tow vehicles when set up properly. You should be happy with one. Good luck on your quest.

Thanks everyone from the Welcoming committee :D:cheers:and encouragement.
My Project never done '56 GMC and my '68 Pontiac Tempest, and my '67 El Camino. I live in Commie-fornia where they want to
ban everything but I'm still moving forward to do a full resto-mod on the El Camino with a blown 496BB Chevy. Hopefully....

Would you PLEASE make up your mind already !!

Chevy /GMC Subs use to be my dream work truck back in the late '80s and early '90s but it had to be a '73-'91 couldn't afford the one I really wanted brand new, a '91 but after taking one out on a test drive, WOW !! I was hooked So eventually ended up with a '87 GMC Sub with a Salvage title that needed some work. I beat the snot out of it and due to reasons beyond my control the paint and body work fell apart and I decided to do it myself instead of going back to a body shop. The first photo is after its first repaint and the second photo is some years later after I did the body work and repainted. Before I bought my Tundra I had two other trucks that I saw as my next dream work truck. The 2015 F-250 was over kill and over the top for me but man she's a thing of beauty. And the '09 & 2010 Chevy Avalanche was a good looking ride and more practical and I was sorry they stop making them, but later I stumbled onto Tundras.com read and studied up on the Pros and Cons and talked to some of my fellow mechanic friends with Toyota trucks, so I pulled the trigger and got this Radiant Red 2016 Tundra SR5 CrewMax 5.7L 2x4. I don't know why I didn't consider the Tundra earlier. Please don't misunderstand me I aint tryin' to sound like a prick, but I read different reviews on the Tundra's and some of the comments on the Pros and Cons ...the cons sounded dumb, "It rides like a truck" "It lacks certain options" "Rough handling" "Unfortunately, the Tundra is one thirsty full-size pickup truck".
WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE, IT'S A FREAKIN TRUCK. And it gets better gas mileage then I expected, Does anyone else on here think the 6 speed trans is clumsy? I haven't had any issues, the truck I bought has 79K miles on the clock.

Hmmm let see, GM has transmission and rear end issues, Ford paying out a bazillion $$ on roofs that cave in on roll overs, Rams catching fire, Ford EV Lightings catching fire. I think I will pick the used truck that rides like a truck, thank you very much.
Check out the link below if you never heard of it.
Type in the vehicle you might be doing research on it might be very helpful
