I've just got the stock stereo that came with the truck.....I'm done spending money on stereo equipment at this stage in my life ....you get to be 50 + years of age....you don't tend to blast the music like you use to :turtleride:

Blasting it and sounding quality are definitely two separate topics. Wouldn’t you agree?

Yes it you want to go 6x9 up front you can. The crossovers in the Alpine kit are nice n small too. If you look closely they are in there! I prefer the 6.5 component set over the 6x9. A couple of adapters and the 6.5s go in nicely! Its up to you.

I used these in a Ford Excursion,Mitsubishi Eclipse and a BMW M3. 2 of the 3 kept the stock headunit. There was a noticeable difference. I installed a small 4 channel amp in the BMW and it was awesome. The Eclipse powered the Alpines off just the stereo and it made a noticeable difference. My Tundra got Rockford Fosgate.

Anyone help me out just for clarification?

Do we need to buy speaker adaptors for front AND rear door speakers if we are INSTALLING 6 1/2 component speakers?

I just just just finished installing one rear door and called it quits. I reused just one door for testers since I ordered the ebay adapter for under $20. the door panel clip doesn't catches at the back, as I believe the 6 x 5 sits a bit higher in the OEM adapters....

You can reuse adapters, and even the speaker harness if you have a dremel and with time to get creative......

cut the cone out, and with an electric sharp saw, cut about 1 inch of the top of adapter......
