Looking to pull the trigger here on Amp research steps. Should I spend more for the OBDii harness plug and play? It explains that it might take up to 90 minutes off the install time

I have AMP steps and have them hardwired in my 2014.

Just make sure your tap or posi-tap connections are good and you'll be fine.
The OEM wires are very small, and it takes a little effort to make sure your connectors make contact......

Note, if you have a double cab, measure yourself and decide what and if you want to cut them.
I wish I would have measured mine, before cutting them to the instructions recommendation.
If you have a crewmax, you won't cut them at all...

    Welcome to the forum...

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I can’t imagine the connectors are bad at all on the truck. But great advice. Yours looks clean.

Plug and play is the way to go unless you’re constantly plugging into the port.
    RTV the lights in place.

mine came with 3m tape which quickly failed. A drop of clear RTV has held them in place for four years now.

I learned the plug and play is not compatible with the 2020?? Also it has the available override switch I can buy. But do I go with the STA1 or the STB1 option? I don’t know what those are.

Does anyone know the answer here for the STA1 or STB1 for a 2020 crewmax? I can’t find anything on the different options
