Went down to the local Canadian Tire. Bought 10 quarts of Royal Purple 5w-20 and an STP oil stabilizer. Lady at the till was distracted by my kids I think. She rang one 5 quart jug and only charged me for it haha. So I paid it and walked out. Only paid $60 for $135 worth.

On a real positive note the truck feels and sounds real nice with the stabilizer and Royal Purple.

Jacked up the drivers side to get as much of the old black oil out;)

In your defense, you didn't realize the mistake until you got home and drained the oil right?

You could have use the situation as a teaching moment for your kids and shown them integrity by paying what you owe. What comes around goes around.

While I agree with the folks who say you should take the kiddos and make it right at the store, good lesson, good karma, and frankly just the right thing to do...I also think that if someone is making those kinds of mistakes behind the counter, maybe they should lose their job? It doesn't take many mistakes like that for a small shop to tank.

I tend to agree with you. Just as a point of reference though, Canadian Tire isn't a small shop.

Canadian Tire posted $4.1 billion in 4th quarter earnings in 2018.

yes , they probably could loose the job , and it will still be noticed , only in a better way , if the money is returned. And lets face it , you'll probably feel a lot better doing right and possibly saving someones job.

Good point, I'm a small retailer and I know there are mistakes made and thus small business can not afford too many mistakes, simply put, the retailer owner and clerk both lose.

Well then I'm pretty sure they can take the hit but even so, not sure employees like that are doing them any favors. I had no idea if it was a chain or mom and pop, but in my book it really doesn't change what the right thing is in this situation. Just my 2 cents worth.
