I hate it's a newer model but still requires the phone to be connected with a lightning cable. Just don't want to have to plug up everytime, I enjoy the wireless ability. This does look like a nice unit, especially at that price point.

ended up pre-ordering it from crutchfield. $299 shipped and includes the Metra bezel to mount it. should be a nice upgrade from my current 7 y.o. Kenwood :)
will post feedback and pictures once received and mounted.

I like alpine stuff but after several hours of research I went with the kenwood DMX905s.

5 volts on the preamp outs instead of 4
Higher Bitrate playback of hi res audio
    2 year warranty

Crutchfield had it for $499 but discontinued it. Found new for $430. Have all the install gear and just waiting for the Radio to arrive

got it last night. very compact and nice screen. crutchfield sent the ready harness as well which makes things easier. Just need to tap into few wires to finish the install.

I also ended up with the Kenwood DMX905S DMR. and yes, you can play video from a thumb-drive.

and it's done. smooth install except the front/rear cameras. The old ones I had are really washed out on the big screen. I need to get better ones :)
anyways it sounds better than the Kenwood excelsion unit it replaced. Carplay is flawless.

paired with kenwood 4+1 amp + Kappa all around and Alpine sub.

Is there any way to watch video from iPhone on the ilx-w650? Was trying to see if there was something like an HDMI To Composite Video/Audio Adapter Cable that can be used with lightning cable hdmi adapter. This unit would be perfect if there is a way to do this

didn't see any hdmi inputs. If its an iphone video I'm not sure Carplay supports that feature yet. it would have to be an apple interface knowing them.

Went with the ILX 207 and like it a lot. What most people don’t realize is that when you download music it’s compressed to about 25% of what the actual music file was originally recorded at. Then going through Bluetooth or anything wireless compresses it even more to about 5-8%. While plugging in isn’t ideal, it will keep your sound quality closer to the 25%. Frankly I’d rather have a better sounding system with the radio always playing than not having a cord.
