Tired of poor mileage. What’s the best cold air intake for the money. I’m on a fixed budget. Retired. 5.7 4 wheel drive. 2016 crewmax

Is your intake box stock? If so then this is the best cold air intake option. I would upgrade the filter to a better unit if you have not done so already. For example an AFE

This may help you. That being said, I have the TRD one. Don’t waste your money. It’ll give you sound, but that’s about it.

Nothing will give you better gas mileage in these trucks except a lighter foot.

The $300+ dollars wasted on a “cold air intake” would be better spent on more gas. I’d work on improving driving habits for the best improvement.

Not worth it. I’d also check tire pressures but again this is a truck that inherently doesn’t do great for mileage overall.

Slow down and use the smallest/lightest tires and wheels you can get away with. Ditch any extra weight from the truck that isn’t necessary.

Nothing else will make an appreciable improvement. Cold air intakes are not an improvement over stock. A chip or programmer might get you a teeny improvement, but what? Maybe 1 mpg? That’s probably optimistic. I doubt you’re going to save enough on fuel to see any return on the investment. Same with an exhaust system. How many miles would you need to drive to recover fuel savings to offset the grand you’ll pay for the tailpipe and muffler.

Make truck lighter. Small/light wheels and tires. Slow down your driving. Clean or replace air filter.

    Pedal commander.
    Best mod for tundra.

Lets you get up to cruising speed faster. I get maybe 0.5-1 mpg better with the pedal

Does a Pedal Commander do something more than change the throttle application in relation to pedal position? I understand that it is similar to using Tow/Haul, but without the transmission control changes. In other words, isn’t it a placebo? I can’t see how making the throttle curve more aggressive would increase mileage.

Engineers spend a lot of time and brain power to make modern engines run as efficiently as possible (and they're smarter than people selling aftermarket bolt-on gimmicks). Manufacturers spend a lot of money to facilitate this R&D (some more than others).
The stock air intakes on NA vehicles are not restrictive and do not starve the engine of air. Also, air is pulled into the combustion chamber via the piston sucking it in on the down stroke. It doesn't matter what filter or filter box you install, the air will not be any colder and the piston will not pull any more air into the combustion chamber.
Stock paper filters work as well or better than any gimmicky aftermarket product and all you have to do is check them periodically and replace them when dirty. The only thing that will restrict flow is a clogged filter.

I bought my truck slightly used and the previous owner installed one of those. After playing with it, it seems to make the throttle more responsive, ie; dumps more fuel.
My truck gets better fuel economy with it turned off. 2 mpg better on average, to be specific
