What are you guys using for an air filter? I was considering a K&N or an AFE Pro dry S. I'm still running the stock air filter along with my DD exhaust.

AFE Dry. Mainly because it's good as new after I wash it out with the hose and blow dry it with compressed air. Don't really think I'm getting any noticeable performance gains though.

Will change to Wix once the factory one is due to be changed. I just can't rationalize a "high flow" filter because if it's letting more air through, then it's probably not filtering as much junk out...

Just got a Wix charcoal activated cabin air filter to give a shot. Was really surprised how good Amazon's prices are on some of the Wix items for our truck though.

WIX. Most air boxes are made for the best airflow possible from your motor from the factory these days.

I dropped in a K&N in the Stock box along with TRD air dam. I'm running a DD exhaust as well. Before adding the exhaust I did this mod and you would hear the difference and feel a little better acceleration. After installing the exhaust it really opened up how much air it breaths now. Love the sound it creates. @Tundra234 I'll try and send you a video clip over the weekend.

Stock Denso. With just the two clips on the 3rd gen box you need a perfect fit for a good seal on the lower edge. I've heard some aftermarket ones have less than desirable gasket thickness.

Still on the fence between buying another one or swapping in a used 2nd gen box for the bigger filter and a clip on every corner for more positive seal.

Played around with different types of air filters for my BBC. Found that the OEM paper had much better air flow and the engine sounded better when compared to K&N and similar with all the fancy wording making you think you were gaining horse power. That said the OEM one is fine and when replacement is due I will go with WIX/Nappa Gold paper like OEM, (same item).

I use the Afe Dry pro S. But I do keep a paper one on hand to take with me when I go off road. Try to run that in dirty environments because it filters better.

Kuul. Very similar to the K&N in design and filter media. Basically identical. Both have better air flow than OEM. The OEM is more constrictive by design and will have a higher efficiency spec, but due to simple physics it will have less airflow. I like the reusable factor of the TRD/K&N but don't expect any hp gains at all unless you drive at near redline. Ha! I think you can use K&N oil and cleaner kit. Prolly cheaper than the Yota TRD kit.

Yeah I had a K&N in the other truck along with the SABM. The TRD should flow well with the DD exhaust. I thought about doing the SABM on this one, but some have said that they had negative experiences after doing it. It's been a few months so I would have to get back into that thread. I didn't have any issues with it on my 2013.

I'm running the K&N, I always have. I have the cone in my 4runner but for the Tundra I just bought a drop in replacement. With how big the stock one is I doubt I'd have more surface area with a cone. Also got the cabin filter because it was a special at autozone.

I have that SABM. Bought it several years ago and never installed it. It's in my storage unit somewhere with my cab mount chop plates I bought from Relentless Fab. Dang it.

I can't find a discount on the K&N cabin filter. I change my cabin filter every 3 months. My local Advance Auto has the K&N cabin for $39.99. It won't let me use the 20% off code online. :frusty:

Good deal. I may still go over to Advance Auto and pick one up. I change them out so often I might as well. Will pay for itself after 6 months. I've been paying close to $20 for the fancy Purolator charcoal cabins.

Even on my supercharged Lexus I ran Wix. Same with the cabin filter. Had a lot more pleats than the stock Denso.

Is the WIX model for the 5.7 10085? On the wix website it says thats the model for my truck but Amazon says it doesn't fit.. the Fram option, which does fit according to amazon, is about 3/8" narrower and nearly 2 inches shorter.. ?

I ask because I need to change mine out and project farm did a test on air filters and these were at or near the top

Stock Toyota Paper for the Intake. The only Cold Air Intake that interests me is the Stillen CAI. It draws from the fender and also from a shroud beside the rad. But to be reasonable, you only really benefit from it if your revving past 4000 RPM. There is plenty of flow from stock and it draws from the fender well, so stock is a CAI. I prefer the paper filter, a friend is a mechanic and he stated you can see a difference in the oil running a high flow oiled filter, he went back to paper.

    I run a K&N in the Cabin.

You can feel the extra weight on the Denso. Better quality all around. The thicker baffles help calm air turbulence, as well.
