Aftermarket backup cameras, are they all the same?

I'm getting ready to install a backup camera on my 2nd gen to go with my Kenwood head unit. I'm going to go with the one in the tailgate style. As I'm looking around it seams like everyone says their camera is the best. While they give specs they don't list the brand of the camera. I would like to be able to turn off the parking aid lines and use the head unit as I can adjust them.

After reading reviews some of the complaints are that the aftermarket tailgate handles feel flimsy and even reports of breaking in very cold weather I'm thinking that it's worth an extra $60 to go with the OEM handle.

If I do that then I just need a camera. I've looked at some companies, like Master Tailgaters, but they sell the camera mounted in a handle and OEM cameras (which cost twice as much and I'm not sure if they would work with an aftermarket head unit). They don't say anything about being able to turn off the guide lines. When I've looked for just a camera I'm finding lots of sub $20 ones and some really expensive ones. Most have names I've never heard of before.

My question is are all these cameras made in the same factory in China or are there real differences. I've read some saying they have glass lenses vs plastic and some say they use a Sony CCD. I would like to do this once and not pay for a handle I'm not going to use and not get either an over priced or junk camera.

I just ordered one from Master Tailgaters for my 2007. I'll let you know how it works out.
