Adding steering wheel controls

I want to add steering wheel audio controls to my 08 DC. Can this be done?. Has anyone... If so how tough is it?

 

If the wiring is there, sure. There's probably an aftermarket application too, via bluetooth maybe.

 

I really want the controls. I have a Pioneer air play head unit. I'm thinking the wiring is there. I may have to change the air bag cover, plus install the controls. Wondering if anything else is involved

 

I don't have any experience in knowing if the factory steering wheel controls will operate an aftermarket head unit. Sorry.

 

i had this done. bought a wheel for my 08 that had controls and had my 12 volt buddy wire it up. after market alpine hu though. can get more detail form him if you would like...

 

I don't see why it wouldn't work if you swapped the steering wheel over. The module that will integrate into the pioneer unit is the ASWC.
