I just got a 2020 tundra crewmax 5.7. This is my first tundra. I am loving the truck but I noticed something strange. The truck has never ending power, but you have to press the throttle about half way before it kicks in, also if you want full power you have to floor it. I guess what I’m saying is that the throttle isn’t very responsive. Is this something that anyone else has found or is there something wrong with my truck? It only has 44000 on in but the previous owner seemed to like to push his oil changes to 10000 and even 14000 so I’m wondering if he damaged the motor or if I’m just paranoid( synthetic), also another side note it 0-60s fine at around 7 seconds if you floor it

Nope, 10k mile oil change is recommended. Throttle does seem slow to respond. Most get a pedal commander to address this issue.

It’s Toyota fuel saving tune make the throttle unresponsive, push the tow/haul button it will wake up the beast.

Pedal commander is dangerous and may fail unexpectedly, if you want the instant throttle look into the Banks pedal monster. Simple OBD port install and multiple settings. Keep your shifter in s4 on the city streets and it won't bog down as bad.

Yea I haven’t tried tow haul or sport yet, I’ll have to give it a try! Is this fuel savings something that is only in newer trucks? My dad has a 2010 titan (5.6 v8) and it seems like every time I’ve driven his truck it gets right up to speed when you barely even tap the pedal. But I think he gets worse mileage so that would make sense

Retrax. Ready lift. Just bought 3 weeks ago! Looking to add a rack system and winch bumper, then move from there.
Agreed it’s dangerous, I had one on my 4runner, was great until it failed while driving in the city, lost all throttle response and luckily was able to pull over quickly.

Even with a supercharger the initial throttle response is slow, which as previously stated is a gas saving measure. Even if you floor it the shifting is biased towards efficiency and not power. Whereas if you just hit the tow/haul and pass the person/etc then turn it off you’ll be alot happier.

The Banks Pedal Monster is what you need. A few of us in this thread that I linked ran the Pedal Commander for a few years and switched to the Banks unit recently. Jay @ToyFan is from Banks and can answer any questions that you have if the rest of us don't know the answer. This video explains the differences between the 2 units. I am betting 100% that you will agree that the Banks PM is a better and safer unit.

Was the one in your 4R the Bluetooth version? Those seem to be the ones with the issues. I just replaced ours (non-Bluetooth) in the 4R with a Banks as well for piece of mind. I didn't want to chance a failure with her and the kids in it.

    Too many mods to come
A tune from overland tailor tuning will fix. My throttle response is adjusted to be more responsive among other parameters

Let me verify mine. If you order directly from Banks, they have a military discount.

Once you hit 50 posts, you can always sell it on here and get the Banks.

I threw my PC right in the garbage after I lost throttle on the highway and CEL came on.
I didn’t want to sell that to anyone, to dangerous. I had the Bluetooth one.

That pedal monster looks legit, be getting one soon!
