2018 not showing any errors but I’m only getting 0.10 volts coming off the the brake 7 pin connector when hitting the manual gain slider. Also getting the same reading at the first brake in line of the tandem set up. Any ideas? Trailers brand new and I’ve gone through every connection on the trailer and it’s all tight and tidy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you increased the gain setting on the controller?

Thats the prodigy P3. I have that on stand-by just incase the factory control craps the bed. I think OP is referring to the OEM one that is integrated into the truck.

Will have to wait for the OP to chime in, but it may be the integrated controller that he is having an issue with.

Yes, it’s the integrated controller and gain is set to 10 while testing. I’d love to just scrap the factory unit for a Prodigy P3 but the harness for it seems to be a mystery as far as the 2018 goes.

Is the factory one inertia based too? Have you tried rolling with the camper and trying the slider to see if it will stop you?

I have driven around with the trailer and it’s still very slight braking power. It will stop the truck at idle speed that’s about it. I’m taking it over to Moab tomorrow so we’ll see if anything changes with it. If not Ill start researching after market controllers. I did call my dealer in Denver today and they were absolutely clueless about any issues with our brake controllers.

Does anyone have a link to step by step install instruction for putting the P3 on a 2018 Tundra with factory brake controller? I know there are no adaptors out there and I'm very reluctant to start cutting into factory wiring. I have the P3 sitting in my garage in an unopened box... I need to tow a trailer into the high country next Thursday.

It looks like this harness should work... https://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towpower-8507800-Control-Harness/dp/B01EWCGV0Y/

Good point. I haven't checked at what the harness on my 2018 looks like, just went off of someone's pic from their 2016.

Any idea is it a bitch to get to the OEM controller plug? Can you just reach up behind the dash to pull it out or do you have to pull apart the dash to access it?

I think this is the general issue with the OEM setup, although mine is a 2017 my finding were the same and I had the TSB done that's supposed to increase the voltage output. Even with that its very lame, I took my camper out 2 weeks ago and was very un impressed with the IBC. Even with the gain at 10 I'm barley getting any brake action, surprises me this is so hard for Toyota to get right.

5 hour run with the trailer today and no change in braking power, Aftermarket it is.

Did the aftermarket fix the issue? I'm in the same boat with my 2017..
