Anybody know anything about this? To say I’m disappointed is taking it quite
Mildly. I bought a Toyota because I was tired of taking my Chevy’s in!

Are you driving in wintery conditions? The TSS will not work if there is snow on the Emblem & windshield.
If so, try cleaning the emblem and ensuring the camera in the windshield is not blocked.
The pre-collision system uses radar (in emblem) and camera (on windshields) to operate. If either are blocked, it cannot properly function

Nope, and you can eat off of the truck. I did not realize the camera was in the windshield. It is clear. Thank you, though

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
Before messing around at the dealership, I would just disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect it. That seems to fix any strange "electronic alarms" I get on my truck.

    Function before sparkle.
This happens to me almost every morning when the truck is parked outside. Snow and ice covers the cameras, lights go on and automagically come back on when the defroster finishes it's job.

I got the same message yesterday. The next message was clean sensor. It was during a very heavy rain shower and cleared on its own.

depending on conditions driven in sometimes will affect TSS operation, do you have any sort of lift kit or anything like that??

Although its unnerving, the issue your having isn't unique to the Tundra. Toyota is low tech and "stuck' in the past because they perfect a a design model. That design becomes immensely reliable. This system is new and often has to be initially tweaked.
So in closing, if the hard reboot through power loss didnt solve the issue, the dealer level scan tool will.
Congratulations on your new and reliable Tundra

I own a 2018 tundra and same warning and icon came on when the truck had about 200 miles on it. I brought it to the shop and scanned it for codes, no codes present. Another tundra came into the shop for the same concern. That Tundra was scanned and no codes present. The tech started what's called a tas case and spoke with Toyota about the concern. Toyota said its normal and the pre collision system runs self diagnostic test randomly and when doing so causes the pre collision to illuminate and not operate until self test is complete. Snow, ice, rain, bugs, mud or anything else on the grill can block the sensor reading and also cause the pre collision to illuminate. I hope this information helps. By the way I've worked for a Toyota dealer for the past 18 years.

    working on them.
when i did my initial should i buy a tundra a few months ago, i spoke to a toyota mechanic about what stands out with new trucks coming in for repairs.... here in the DFW area... he said the main grill sensor (and not 100% sure I'm recalling the correct sensor here) in toyota safety sense... it was not like a whole bunch , its what stood out ... for whats that worth.

The radar sensor for that is actually behind the emblem on the grill. The most common cause of that is dirt mud rain snow or bugs collecting on the emblem in the front of the truck.

What you're citing is, unfortunately, a fairly common refrain on this forum. I've gotten to the point where I just shut the PCS off before every trip. Not saying that that is the right approach; principled stance would be to make the dealership fix it, but I have zero faith that they dealers actually know what to do. There are a bunch of threads where the dealers just keep replacing sensors, IMHO hoping that the sensor replacement will fix the problem <-- it sounds to me like guessing as opposed to actual troubleshooting. Issue is in the design of the TSS, again IMHO.

The day I bought it I got the warning, but it was sleeting. I understand that. Once everything melted it was fine. Its been doing this for three days now. Toyota dealer wants me to bring it in. *sigh*

Yup, that's what the tech told me, that there were several that had a "bad batch" sensor. What annoys me is that they can't order a new one until it is diagnosed first. 150 mile round trip x 2 to fix my brand new truck.

This guy seems to know whats really going on. He told me which sensor he had to replace and that it would take two hours to recalibrate it once it was replaced. I'll make an appointment and hope for the best!

Please keep us posted. If you find a dealership that can actually implement some effective results, I'm sure that the other members of this forum that are nearby would appreciate the knowledge.

I had the same issue with mine at 400 miles. Took it in and they replaced the camera. It's been working great after that.
