So I decided on 6112/5100 combo for my 18 CM. I installed the 5100s about 3 weeks ago and the 6112s were installed today. I felt I didn’t need to do anything more in the rear which is why I went 5100s, and I’m glad I did. They are pretty good for my application. I did want something more in the front without spending too much money which is why I chose 6112s. Plus the good reviews on this and other forums certainly helped. 6112s were purchase from Boss 4x4s and set to 1.3 inch setting which is exactly the look I was going for as well as performance. My truck has 3/4” to 1 inch rake still and they ride great. The front end definitely feels more planted and doesn’t seem to be too harsh or too soft. They are just right and I could not be happier. And alignment is great and I don’t need to do anything more with the suspension. The only downside is my tires don’t quite fill the wheel well.284237BF-D49B-4728-B108-FA79ED8051DE.jpg4A7EA8B4-1838-431D-BDC0-EE7D5BE6799A.jpg

looks good! If I understand your post you are running the 6112 up front on the middle setting and the 5100 in the rear with no lift?

I'll be doing the same this spring. Looks really good. I am going with +1 shackles in the rear because of all the towing I do. @cpc0812 any chance you could take a head on picture of your truck? Thanks

Nice! Exactly the setting I had for my 6112/5100 set up. Haven't installed mine yet, and was curious what they'd look like. Those are your standard 20" tires on there?

Yes stock wheels and tires. 275/55/20. They look small.

    Not nearly enough room here!
1219181051.jpg I have the same set-up on my 2010 except my 6112's are on the bottom setting (first ring) ,5100's at stock height on the rear. Tires are LT 285-65-18 Michelin LTX AT2's. When the boat is hooked-up, truck sits dead level.

Can someone explain what shackles do? I’m wanting to level my truck with 6112 in the front and maybe get the 5100 like you Gus are doing on the rear, I also tow a boat a lot all year long and do not want to have the nose high ever. What do shackles do?
What if I did 1.9” in the front and an inch or so with 5100 on the rear would that do for towing?

To get any lift in the back you have to use either shackles or a block.

    Shackles-https://www.boss4x4s.com/toytec_adjustable_1_15_lift_shackles_07tundra

1.9" in front will put you really close to level, and any heavy weight in the bed or towing would put the nose high.

I just lifted my front 2.5" in the front and 1.5" in the rear with the Toyotech shackle since I tow a heavy wakeboat all summer. I will see once I hook up to pull mine out to dewinterize if I want to order Firestone ride rite airbags and daystar cradles or not for the rear. Since I kept the back higher, I may not need too.

If your boat is heavy and you’re towing it all year, you may be better off with a new leaf pack that provides a slight 1” or so lift and a bit stronger spring rate. You should then get rear shocks better valved to damp the new spring rate.

A cheaper option than a new leaf pack is to get an add-a-leaf. Again, new shocks are recommended for both the spring rate and slightly taller ride height.

If the boat isn’t heavy, shackles should do just fine.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but I’ve been looking at doing the same thing. What would be the best combo of 6112/5100 for me if I stay on pavement 100% of the time but tow about 7k pounds for a short trip up to some 7000ish feet once a year or so. I like the stock ride quality so don’t want to get anything that will be bumpy but I do want a small lift overall.

I can assure you, the 6112/5100 combo will far exceed stock ride quality. I replaced my TRD Sport bilsteins at 4500 miles with this combo and it was a substantial improvement in ride quality even on the road. Felt like a whole different brand new truck haha.

In those pics, no shims. My truck now is set at the 1.9” setting with 1 shim on the drivers side. Doesn’t seem like much of a difference but it was. I like it better. I also have +1 CB shackles in the rear.
