It was freaking FREEZING last year. Bring a snuggle buddy.

@Mrs. Nishibot loaned us an extra sleeping bag... saved me! We have since invested in even more cold-weather bedding. Bbbrrrrr!

It was around 37 in the morning although during the day was perfect with sun and didn’t need a jacket at all.

This helped a lot at night!

It's not that bad in September. Just throw a couple hand warmers in your sleeping bag. Easier to pack and use than a Buddy Heater. I was there every weekend from beginning of Sept. thru mid-Nov. A few mornings in Oct/Nov that were in the teens and that was at 4:00 a.m. to get to glassing points. Otherwise, not bad at all. I slept in back of my truck and in a tent. Very comfy with the handwarmers.

Just to clarify, don't show up with the cheapest Walmart sleeping bag that's rated at 50 degrees. You won't freeze, but you won't be comfortable. I have the USMC four bag system and I usually just use the main intermediate bag with the hand warmers. The hand warmers are great because you can put them in your pockets after you wake up and walk around camp with them. buddy heater is fine, but all the heat will sit in the top of your tent for the first 20 mins....when you sit there and debate whether you want to get up to go pee! ha ha

I also carry a seabag full of extra blankets if i think it's going to be that cold. A woobie is all you need....

Is this a family-friendly occasion usually? (I’m good with PG-13 as being family friendly)

My 8-yr old loves to go off roading and can talk about burps and farts all night, but would rather avoid too many F-bombs etc.

No biggie if I don’t bring her. Was just wondering what to expect.

I know I’m behind a bit so I don’t know if someone else has already answered up, but here is my assessment based on last year and numerous other meets with SoCal taco and tundra members.

There will be no drunken arguments or fights, although there will be drunkenness... and debates. There will be some sexual references but, in mixed company or with kids present, most will be PG-13 innuendo. But there will be a lot of “Fucks” given.

Yep. I was pretty sure we’d all agree this is not a “zer0 fucks given” kind of event but it IS a family event. There were many kids last year, everyone had a great time... and the cussing is basically used as adjectives to better explain what incredible experiences we had together on the trail. I mean, you can only say “gnarly” so many times. When the fish you’re trying to describe is SO MUCH BIGGER than the fish some other guy just told us he caught....

Then everyone resets at breakfast (less cussing), and it builds again over the day, as the experiences go on. Hope that captures it for parents evaluating using the CommonSenseTundras review and rating system.

bring your kiddo with you. Most of the group has kids with them, so we all know the concerns. Your whole family will enjoy
