I just spent several hours searching through suspension posts trying to find the answer I'm looking for.

I'm upgrading my 2013 TRD CM to a sport truck vice the off-road package it came with. Reason being, I want it to optimize the truck to excel in the environment it sees the most, dry/wet/snow asphalt. I want to keep stock height and if that changes it would go lower. I want to keep the rake because of towing and hauling.

Right now I have TRD F/R swaybar. I just installed the front and it really makes it fun to drive. It corners flat and just sticks on a good surface. However, I have on onramp that I used daily it's a decreasing radius descending turn with an expansion joint right in the middle of the apex. Hit it wrong and unloads the front suspension noticeably. I'm looking for something that would help out.

After reading forums, retailers descriptions and manufacturer descriptions, I came away more confused than ever but the trend seemed to point to the 2 Bilsteins noted above.

This link below finally allowed me to narrow it down.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/5100-on-bottom-setting.37780/

Anyway, I'd like some opinions and would welcome alternatives. Thanks in advance.

I have had both on my old GMC trucks and I like the 5100's better than the 4600's. I have the 5100's on my old GMC now and they handle great on the road. The ramp situation you mention would be an unnoticed bump with them installed. IMO.

From my understanding the 5100 rear is the same as the 4600, 5100 just longer for lifts. Same as 5100 fronts, but adjustable and fancy coatings.

The 4600 i believe come stock on trd offroad models. Not a bad shock by any means

I'm told that also, unless the valving is different, it be more of the same.

Depends on what you want. Every time i hate how stiff my icons ride, i have to remember how well they corner as a trade off

Thanks for the inputs. I've been on vacation. I'll probably sit on this for a while and do more reviewing. Not a must-have and it can what until next year.

I’m the same way. Wanting great road handling but not wanting to change ride height. Have you looked into red and blue TRD Bilstein’s?

Red & Blue TRD Bilstein shocks are 4600 series shocks with a paint job.

5100s rust. They are valves the same as 4600 just meant for lifted trucks.

So if the 5100's have a rust problem then the 6112 have same issue. The 4600's are painted yellow but also rust. Basically everything is going to rust. Son of....

On the 1st gen trucks, they have different valving. The red shocks are similar (maybe the same) to the aftermarket 4600 HD. The stock offroad Bilsteins have softer valving.

For a street truck, I'd do 4600's, though my 6112/5160 setup rides sweet.

Just because the 4600 and 5100 have the same internals does not mean they have the same valving. A king shock for a tundra and a baja bug have the same internals too. Wildly different setup
