Hi all! I know this subject has been gone over many times but I have new bilstien 5100 shocks I'm putting on the front to replace the factory shocks on my 02 4wd tundra and need a little advice. I had a 2.5" spacer installed that gave me a 1/2" higher then level front and would like to keep this same stance using the new shocks without the spacers of course. Everything I have read says the 3rd setting should give me a level stance but I dont see how this can be since there saying that should be a little over an inch lift. Seems like I should go with the 4th or 5th setting to be comparable to what the spacers gave me?? I'm going off a diagram I found online that was showing the average ride heights per settings.

I think the highest Billy setting on our years is the third up from bottom. Gives an inch?

My Billy fronts at the second up from stock. Maybe a half inch lift. For whatever reason, my Billy 5100 rear shocks (non adjustable) gave about a half inch rise as well. This lift stuff is inexact science.

Let us know how it goes for you.

4th setting did put my truck about 1/2" higher in the front. Bought a set of the icon AAL and put the bilstens on 5th setting in the front to get this much lift out of it. 2.5 front and 1.25 rear is where it sits now.20181202_094844.jpg

Looking good. I like your clear (not orange front side marker/blinker). Looks clean. I think there was a factory recall on those (sold only in the south east) due to the color needing to be orange. I may be wrong. I might try to get these clear ones in the future due to my orange ones taking on water.

How you liking the ride with the Billys?

I love it. Firmer and better cornering with the new shocks. Now I am thinking about upgrading the wheels to ether the TRD beadlock or just the silver 6 spoke like these.4733922725_2b8e3d83ea.jpg 003.jpg

Sweet! Your tires look pretty proportional. Im thinking of going to the 4th clip location on mine and just wanted to make sure that my tires (same size as yours) wont seem to small. Do you think your tires are a little small for that height? Pictures can be different from real life sometimes.

I think they match up pretty well. Thought about going with 285s but didnt want my mpg dropping anymore then what it already is. Was also worried about rubbing. I have new rims and new pirelli scorpion mts now and I think I like the look pretty well.

Any problems going to the highest setting? I read the access cab shouldn't go above the third?

Not any issues so far other then my ball joints wore out a few weeks ago. Replaced with Freedom Offroad upper control arms. 5100s are working out nice!

How are those Freedom Offroad uppers? Ive heard mixed reviews about them. Plus, Im about to pull the trigger on some Pirelli MTRs pretty soon in the same size as yours.

Yea I read that can happen from adding much a lift. Really don’t want to open a can of worms but i already ordered the Billys and some 1/2” shims. Hope I don’t end up forking up more $$ to fix problems created by a 2-2.5” lift

I do not have any bad things to say about the freedom uppers. I do think it is necessary to put uppers on that are built for a lift though if your going all out on the Billy's. I love the look of the Pirelli MTRs. No sign of wear yet but I only have around 5,000 miles on them.

So I put on the 5100's at the third setting since that what was listed as the max setting for the Access cab TRD. I added a 1/2" shim on the driver side for lean and now have about a 2" level going on. I am not opposed to a little bumper trimming so I can get the max wide and tall tires. I am looking for new rims too, any suggestions? Mostly drive sand here, zero highway as my roads top out at 50mph. Lots of potholes too so I am thinking 16" as I hear 15" rims can't clear the brake calipers or something like that. Just want to know how big I can go, offset, ect..
