Hey guys, just got the 5100's installed on my 19 Platinum Crewmax. I decided to go with the BFG's 285/65/20 All Terrain KO 2's and I guess the dealership assumed they needed to put the setting on the top. Needless to say, it is extremely rough, not too mention the nose is very high. Good news, 285's fit with absolutely no trimming necessary and no rubbing at all anywhere. Bad news, nose high and very rough ride. Here are the pics of it after the install. I will be taking back and have them move down to the middle setting for hopefully a smoother ride. Anyone else have this issue with the ride on the top setting? Note: there is nothing in the bed of the truck except the factory tires. No real weight at all. Thoughts.....VYVmDc+sQPq79Q6Pfk3NQQ.jpgelwpP3yVTXyr9c495JVKbw.jpg

That's what I thought when they brought it around. It went from basically 2" too low to 2" too high

    Voyagermike,
Do you happen to have a pic of the correct way they should be installed. I am sure I can find one online if not

Something looks very very wrong just from your lca angle

Tires look great on stock wheels, but i agree the front would look better lower. Snap a pic of the shock

Looks like you need to flip the black parts that the spring bottoms are seated on. I believe they are reversed.

See that black cup that the spring is sitting on? That's the spring perch. In that picture, it's currently upside down. The cone should be facing up and should be inside the spring, not below it.

Thanks guys, this is why I wanted to post this concern. I will take a pic of the shock in the morning and add to this post so feel free to look and tell me what is the problem so I have a leg to stand on when I take it back to them.

Definitely has to be upside down. My buddy has them set to the top setting on 33s and he said it rides smooth.

If it's upside down, it'll get preloaded real hard. If that's a 600lb/in spring, it's gonna be preloaded for about 800-1200lbs over what you were expecting.

Look at the bright side. When they fix it, you're really gonna love the ride!!

I hope so. I have lost confidence in this dealer. I know they'll make it right but the aggravation of having to take it back to have them fix it.

Here are some photos I found to give you an idea of how they should be assembled and installed.
    Ignore part numbers on illustration.

Man I appreciate this so much. I am checking this out early tomorrow and maybe they can get this fixed tomorrow if not Monday it is. Do you think it is ok to ride on them if they are installed incorrectly?

I'm not going to say nothing will happen, because there's a lot of stuff out of spec right now if it's installed wrong and a lot can happen quickly, even on the road.

possible things out of spec (if this is the issue):
You probably won't have bump stop contact
your upper ball joint is probably over extended
the suspension might droop out real hard
    the alignment is jacked

I leave the conclusion to you.

Well, I finally got in touch with the dealer and they said they didn't know how that happened but that they would take care of it. They sent a wrecker with a rental truck on it and swapped it with me until they get this issue 100% fixed. Here are the pics of how they installed my Bilsteins. Another huge thank you to all that posted what the problem was. A huge reason I enjoy this forum. Have a great weekend all.....IMG_5308.jpgIMG_5308.jpgIMG_5307.jpg

Yes. LOL. Someone didn't read the instructions. There was NO way those were on there correctly.

Muy serio... glad they stepped up to fix what they f-ed up. Nice they sent a loaner and towed it away.

It was almost like I had to state my case with them but when I forwarded the service manager a print out of all the responses off this forum, he just said "we are sorry for this, the wrecker is on the way" hahaha.....

They're just trying to cover their ass. It's normal. Post up when you get it back and give us your impressions of them properly installed.

It makes me cringe every time i see this issue. Probably best they had it towed for you. But I'm glad they are going to fix the mistake.

Collar is flipped upside down it looks like. That would explain the extra height and extra spring compression. Good luck hopefully the tech knows how to read directions

This might sound weird, But this generation doesn't read instructions !! Lol, Bilstein should probably start stamping an arrow up mark.

Also get a print out of the alignment specs when they are done. I'm surprised they were able to "align" it the first time and tell you all is well. Bozos

Haha, I agree with that. I will definitely let you know how the ride is, anything has to be better than how they had them. I was shocked but the alignment was spot on. It rode extremely straight and quiet with the BFG's. I told my wife that this morning that I was amazed they got it aligned.

I dunno about that. I read directions, my dad, rest his soul, just shit canned them after unpacking everything. Legit all the older folks I've worked on cars with shit can them too. Something about them being smarter than some desk jockey that has never turned a wrench. Been a few occasions where I've fished them out of the trash because something wouldn't fit or a bolt was the wrong size for the location.

Bils would increase the price 10% if they printed or stamped that on the perch... lol.

Haha, yep, any reason for them to justify a price increase. I would've paid an additional 10% to have had someone competent and do it right first time. This is how they think, they told me the wrecker would come pick up my truck, I could ride back with the tow truck driver and get my loaner???? I responded how about have tow truck driver bring me the loaner and "save" me a trip. Silence..... Whoa
