Lots of good threads about 5100s and many seem to highlight that the 5100 achieves lift by preloading the springs a bit which gives a stiffer ride. And I know that spacers have there place but can cause issues if used wrong (or to much).

How about combining the two? I personally have a 2.75" front to rear difference. I was thinking about running the 5100 at 2" on it's own, or a 1" spacer and 1.5" setting on the 5100. Less preload on the spring and a less tall spacer.

    Thoughts?

Stock for now, but have TRD Rear Sway bar for it.
Why not? I was thinking same thing. 5100's in middle setting with a coachbuilder shim so there is not so much preload on the spring.

The coachbuilder shim on top of the 5100 is done all the time with no problem they are only 1/4 thick adding a 1" thick spacer on the other hand is not advisable

I second that, “why not?” I was thinking of doing the same thing. My 5100’s arrive on Wednesday and I’m hopefully going to talk to @Coachbuilder1 tomorrow about what he recommends for the back if I add .5” shims to the front. I have the TRD exhaust and would like to go with shackles instead of a block. Still looking to maintain some rake so as to not mess with the sensors.

Edit: read the OP and a reply and got confused for a minute between the spacer comment and shims comment.

Stacking lifts is not advisable. I mean you kinda answered your own question by listing the downsides of each lift, combining then increases the failure risk. Thin shims are much different than spacer lifts.

Just do a 2 inch with the 5100's so you have a .8 rake. If you go dead level and are towing or hauling, you will be nose high and will have the issues that go with it .If you are set on a 3 in the front, do a 1 inch in the back and go with full coilover front or a different spring than stock on the 5100s
