Wanted to post about going to 5.29 gears on my 2014 tundra couldn’t find anything as of recently on prices. Just finally pulled the trigger with 5.29 gears. Costs was $5200 out the door. Currently doing my 500mile break in but so far loving it but can’t wait to actually put them to the test with towing. I’ll keep updates but my setup is 2014 5.7 tundra 6in lift with 35s. Went with 5.29 for more power for towing and to take less load off the engine and trans with the gearing. The best info I can give as of now is the truck feels much lighter and a lot more low end torque. At 60mph in 6th gear I was right at 2,000rpms. After my break in period I will update how it tows, acceleration and possible gas mileage increases.

Might want to look into controling axle wrap with traction bars if not already done. All that torque needs to go to the ground and not eat u joints regularly. Running the BDS version here and have zero regrets.

$5200 I'm assuming is with install. Seems high to me. $1500 for the gears + install kit. The rest is install so $3700?

$2165 for gears front and rear! $2500 in labor and some shipping costs and gear oil brought me to $5200even. I got several quotes and that was the cheapest I got from a reputable shop.

2mchfun- I went with iron man 3.5in lifting springs to remove my rear block. Do You think I still need traction bars with the springs being right to the axle now?

Much depends on how much you want dependability. You mentioned towing. That signals taking off from dead stops needing much torque. How often? Will you be in remote areas without parts/tools and abilities? Lots to consider here. For me, I want peace of mind. You do you.

I guess I got lucky as I paid $1300 for the install, but the other shops wanted $2k easy. Got my gears from a private party seller.

I falsely interpreted the thread title as putting 5.29 gears in a model year 2026 truck.....

Dang! parts and labor have gotten out of hand in 6 years. I did my 5.29 gears and LSD right before covid in 2020 and was sub $2400 parts and labor.
Not sure if I would re-gear at todays prices...

It definitely hurt paying that much but I want to keep mine for many years to come and my biggest issue was hooking up a trailer and the truck did not like it at all. Figured I’d pay the 5k for it so it can tow better instead of justifying buying a new one. Agreed though these prices today for anything is crazy and here I am paying it
