Are the bed dimensions known for the 3rd gen? I'd probably pick one up in 2023 or 2024 model year, but currently going to add accessories for a 2nd gent 5 1/2 foot bed (diamandback, raised rack, etc..). I'd invest much more if I knew the accessories could be moved to a 3rd gen.

Because they changed everything, I would think the the upper edge of the rear bed where the accessories attach is enough different that most accessories would not attach correctly. I tried to find the dimensions of the new model but no one seemed to list them. The rear bed is a whole new design of a composite material reinforced with aluminum. So the first following image is a 2022 rear bed. This is a TRD-Pro with a hybrid engine. The second image is a 2018 bed. I think that they are enough differences that anything specifically made to fit a 2nd generation will not fit the 3rd generation.

This isn't the first accessory thread to show up for the 2022. The truck isn't even in mass production yet, no specs released, and no way for aftermarket companies to even begin the aftermarket mod or accessory process. IMO, people are leaning to far forward and I'm waiting for someone to fall over lol. The point being, I wouldn't dump a lot of money into current gen stuff if you are planning to get the new model and "hope" that the stuff will fit.

Pretty sure that first pic is a current gen trail edition with the port bed liner.

Thanks guys. I should of known the gen would be significantly different. The big investment i was thinking about is either a diamondback or renegade tonneau cover. I know current gen Tundra's and Tacoma's bed walls can handle the weight for big loads and rooftop tents. I wonder about aluminum or other lighter bed wall load capacity since they often are not advertised.

I can see that happening with only raised rails connected up top on the bed sides. With raised rails sitting on top of a diamondback and renegade it adds a second horizontal anchoring force that I hope would prevent the weigh pushing out the bed sideways.

I'll probably still invest into a Gen 2.5 i'm eying. I only buy used and by the time i'm in the market for a used 2023 or 2024 it will be 2027. Sorry to waste peoples time.
