Platinum. Go sit in them and feel how much nicer the platinum seats are.

I bought a used Limited because the used platinums were all $4-6k more, and I wish I’d spent the extra. If it’s $2k more that’s a no-brainer.

It would depend on options. If it's a stacked limited with everything but cooled and memory seats then I'd think about it.
You mentioned the platinum was OTD, but the Limited wasnt... Thats what, 3500-4000k in taxes? That would make the limited more.. Go with platinum.
Some live in Washington, Montana, etc and cooled seats are like suntan oil... Worthless. In California or Texas it's helpful. Others argue they don't feel it.
The leather to me is similar, but I'm not an expert. I don't feel a difference.

In summary, more details on vehicles are needed. The dealership is likely under a little more pressure to vacate the 18 Plat, so it would likely be in your interest .

Gas tank.. Center console, all the goodies... Look deeper.

Every think on both trucks are the same. Except platinum has memory/cool seats. Folding mirror. And color match bumpers.

Limited $44k is also OTD. I am probably going to trade this truck in for the next gen tundra.

Worthless in Washington! LOL, no leather seats for me! Sport!

Sport has color match bumpers and it looks better IMO.

This guy owns a 17 platinum and his father owns an 18 Limited, this should help you answer your questions

I personally would go with platinum but still negotiate the price further down.

depends which one you like better. For me it would be the Limited, I don't like the stitching on the Platinum seats or dash and heated/cooled seats isn't an option I care about.

I have a rear painted bumper on the Limited. The three things I've never seen on a limited are folding mirrors, memory seats, and cooled seats.

But.. I'd rather have a center console and a 38g than those options.. So as much as I like the platy, the highly optioned limited may be stuffed and have the larger tank..

Devils in the details. I'd be flexible on the pro, Plat, limited conundrum as I've seen all three be more and less than I expected.

The second gen Tundra Limited must have been able to get more options in the current generation. My second gen limited has power folding mirrors, heated memory seats,Nav,moon roof, and color matched front bumper. the second generation trucks only difference between mine and my cousin's Platinum was ball coolers.

I love my limited but would have bought the platinum if they offered it in cement. At the time I was buying the platinums were considerably more than the limited.
If you’re good with either color, the platinum is worth the extra $2k for color matched parts, mirrors and seats.
That being said, if you are already planning to trade in the truck for the next gen, I’d go with whatever was the cheapest. Or don’t buy either, save yourself the loss and wait until the truck you want is released.

I must be in the minority. I didn’t see anything in the platinum worth the premium.

Put another way, $2k could be a coilover lift and a set of meaty AT tires. Would you rather have a stock platinum or a lifted Limited with better tires on it? I’d take the latter.

If $2k stretches a budget on a $50k after tax truck, then neither should be the right option

Katzkin leather beats out limited and platinum leather. I had all 3 leather seats. My ranking is Katzkin>platinum>limited. Toyota and Lexus leather feels like cheap plastic/vinyl. If my platinum seats wear out, I won’t hesitate to swap to Katzkin.

Those Platinum seats feel identical to the Limited and Pro on your behind lol. Why dont you go test drive one? The leather does feel different but to the TOUCH. The Platinum and 1794 feel extra smooth and are also paper thin. That is exactly why you dont find any used Platinum or 1794 seats after their 2-3 year lease that are in good condition. This is common sense. Just go to your local furniture store. Couches with paper thin butterscotch leather are more expensive than the thicker real leather couches. One lasts you a lot longer than the other. Shit even baseball gloves work the same way. This is a classic case of butt hurt Platinum owners realizing they paid more for cheaper leather seats lol.

One thing is for sure, the cooled leather seats are amazing to have for any hot days or long rides. So i’ll remain envious of that.

Are we still even talking about a truck here? Last I checked I bought a Tundra for its rock solid reliability lol. Here we are talking about the leather’s feel against your skin lol

Platinum is only available in CrewMax, Limited comes in DoubleCab or CrewMax. They both have the larger fuel tank.

If the two trucks are the same style, and you plan on trading it in when the next generation is available, then you should look at the difference in the resale price between the two. I haven't looked, but do two or three year old Platinums sell for significantly more than the same year Limited, and how much difference is there when the Limited is one year newer?
