Is the box 3d printed or molded?

Well, UPS dropped the ball. Literally pulled up outside the house. Rummaged around in the truck. And drove off.

    no intake today it seems.

:( fedex drove up, gave me one box and said he couldn't find the other one and he'd come back later. Sure enough, he pulled up maybe 30 mins later and handed me the 2nd one. You might get it later...hang tight.

    UPS dropped off at 730pm.
Promptly grabbed the box and headed to the garage.

I’ve installed a lot of aftermarket parts over the years.

This is by far the best engineered component I’ve ever installed. There were zero issues with fitment, zero issues with anything.

And it does what it they state it is supposed to.
There is a noticeable difference power up top. The delivery is much smoother.

ill have a write up in the morning.

So spent the day in the truck moving around town. Freeway, stop and go traffic etc.

For starters, this thing sucks. Truly sucks .
The induction noise that is produced is really nice and deep and the turbos spooling is extremely pronounced.

The truck seems to be a lot happier and more eager to pull. There was a lot of restriction on the inlet side of things it appears.

overall. 10/10 would do it again.

Installed the Magnuson kit. Very fast install since its just a lid and new silicone coupler. Fuel trims remained consistent, hovering around a net (LT + ST) 0-7% adjustment. Idle is smooth, no surge and sounds the same as TRD drop-ins and no carbon filter/pillow. Kinda pricey for a lid/filter/coupler setup but its a nice kit for sure.

    @Daedalus

installed my tonight. Wasn’t as quick/easy as I had thought. Getting to those 10mm bracket bolts were a PITA! :) in fact, I lost one…still stuck in the engine bay somewhere - ha! I’ll have to replace it this weekend, if I can even reach where it goes :) compared to putting a S&B in my 2018 4Runner a few years back, I hated this is install :)

    anyway…it’s done.

did a quick drive - seemed to be a lot of whistling ? I checked all the brackets and everything is tight as can be (minus the one bolt!)…is that normal/as expected. Probably only got up to 45-50mph…

    thanks!

Yup. Lots of whistling. Lots of whooshing.

The power gains up top are very noticeable.
And yes. Those brackets were a pain.

Awesome - thanks for confirming! I'm sure I'll enjoy it now that the install is 99.9% done ---- that damn bolt!

Have any of you guys had a CEL with the SXTH intake? I’ve had it installed for about two weeks now and it randomly threw one today. Haven’t had a chance to check the code yet but I’m assuming MAF related. Hasn’t affected power or anything, mainly just curious if anyone else has experienced this yet.

I'm pretty sure it caused by me being a dummy. When I removed the two bolts on the driver's side oem bracket, I transferred the one to the new bracket and just left the other one out thinking it wasn't needed. Added the bolt back and the codes been gone for a day or two now. I'm super happy with the intakes though.

Anyone have any experience with the K&N cold air intake. Mine was a somewhat easy install and it sounds nice but after about 50 miles it decided to throw a code. I let the ECU reset while I cleaned the MAF sensor and it threw the code again after about 20 miles. I’m hoping there is something I can do that is more permanent at stopping the code, besides going back to stock. I am going to ask the dealer to look at the code this weekend.

So let’s say I wasn’t the smartest for skipping the manual and just watching an install video from a seller website. I thought the video would be correct but the installer said to have the plugs with holes facing the MAF sensor. After reading the manual, after getting the codes, it states to have them facing away from the MAF sensor. No codes since I reset it and moved the plugs. Learn from my mistakes everyone haha.

Are Stillen CAI still blacklisted or are they good to go. A lot these cold air intakes look more like hot air intakes.

I know my stock hot air intakes generally intake air 5° hotter than ambient (when in motion) but after heat soaking temps have gone up to as high 120°.

The best looking one will be the Magnuson as it looks to only have a top box and uses the oem bottom air box part. It's the cheapest right now

So far I have seen when moving, IATs hovering right around 3-5* higher than ambient temperatures.

Was checking out the CAI. I see that the two model which are open air. Sale for as much as one w8th close box cai. What's the deal with that. But anyways. As anyone ever tried using the open air system and just used the cold pipe connecting to the oem box?
