The only thing I noticed that needs work before more print tests was the hitch. The hitch piece is floating off the surface of the build plate.

It would be great if the parts were separated, so I could manipulate them on the build surface individually. But nothing major.

I think I could glue it solid and paint it as it is.

The ledges on the bed ends were a nice touch to make the front align. The small slits on the bed sides are proving to be an issue. But that may clean up with better print quality and better attention to where it inserts supports.

The alignment on the pieces feels pretty good around the cab body and doors. The writing on the Airbox and doors printed even at standard quality. It should do much better when printed at high quality.

Maybe add a pin or other attachment into the cab to top to steady it in glue up. Its very easy to rotate it off center as it is, but I'd bet that's part of the stuff you've in the works on it.

I've got a Prusa Mk3/S+ that I haven't used in a year or so, I was thinking about upgrading to the Mk4. I ordered a Bambu Labs with the AMS/multi-material stuff for less than Prusa wants to upgrade my Mk3. I think it is supposed to be here Friday, so I might have to try printing this with the Bambu.

Which Bambu did you get? The A1 Mini? Thats a good little printer. If you decide on an enclosure later, it fits in between lack tables from ikea with a bit of plexigass from your local big box hardware, and you can build one for under 100$. I dont know if I'd try this as a first print off of it. Its a lot of hours.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post.
Thank you, Thor, for posting your files!!! I've hunted high and low for a model kit of the 2.5 gen Tundra.

I did a test print today, and the detail is great! The resolution shown is .08 fine setting on a Bambu Carbon, printed flat. I sent another print before I left work, but I tilted it 40 degrees with support. (screen pic) This should reduce the body panel terracing of my first print; I'll see tomorrow.

Welcome from TN!! I too am interested in said model. I do not have a 3D printer but would happily buy a kit if it's reasonable.

    Thank You, Corndog!
The angled fender print came out great, featuring much smoother body panels that reduce the need for sanding before painting.

Parts like the truck bed and engine can be printed flat with great results

Lost this thread for a while... I printed most of the truck and was very impressed with the details. I ran it with some filament I was trying to burn through and was still impressed with the results. I did stop printing it as I am not interested (for now) in gluing this thing all together.

    Excellent craftsmanship.

I ran into some issues with my settings on supports and orientation, but overall the parts came out very clean and detailed. When I print it again, I will change some orientations for sure.

Unless you want to print super high detail miniatures. I'd go FDM over SLA.

FDM melts plastic in the hot end and layers it on top, its what most people think of. SLA is a liquid bath that uses UV light to harden plastic one layer at a time while keeping it submerged. SLA is messy, expensive, and time consuming, but can produce beautiful pieces.

    For FDM
Honestly. Just start with the Bambu P1S. It can do nearly everything the pricier models can do, and it simply works. It can handle all the common materials, and is easy to use, comes enclosed, and once you add the AMS unit, you get multicolor or multi material printing. This will do 90% of what every other printer can do, and its not break the bank pricey. The base model is down to $399, and the combo with the AMS is only $549. When you are looking at $239 for the most basic ender 3 (bottom tier). The price jump isnt far for the amount of headache, time, and extras.

Are there faster printers? Marginally at best.
    Are there newer models? Yes
Are there features this doesnt have that you would want. - Per user stuff, but the largest thing is is lacking is the heated chamber (which is fairly easily solved),
Are there are other types out there? tool head changing printers, multi extruder printers. Metal FDM, SLA... Those start to have serious drawbacks or price concerns.

The biggest drawback with Bambu is the vendor lockin in software and RFID media, but that is starting to proliferate to other vendors also.

I have no SLA recommendations. I dont use them.

as for print volume. The white circle at the bottom is a 5 Gal bucket lid. This hudroponics tower is about 4 foot high.

Any chance you have an idea on the wheelbase with it sized the way it is?

I'm going to try to print this to mount on a Traxxis TRX4.

Ya, I can, but since it's in pieces I thought it might be easy for you to measure. All good! I'll take some measurements tonight. I'll report back :)

I'll agree with the above, I've been really happy with my Bambu Lab printers. I currently have two X1C printers both with the AMS.

before buying consider what you'll want to print. Size to determine if a certain printer will be big enough. Useage to decide what material you'll want to be printing with. If you'll want print with just standard materials like PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS and ASA then the P1S will be fine. If you want to print with more advanced materials, for example those with carbon or glass in it, you need a hardened nozzle and extruder gears. You can buy those parts and swap them into the P1S. If you think you will want more bed space than a P1S, P2S or X1C, then look into the H2S. I wish I would have waited a little longer before buying my second X1C as I would have bought the H2S instead, but I can't really complain as I got it at a good price and it's a solid printer but the extra build volume would have been nice.

Current wheel base is roughly 7.25", I'm going to see if I can scale this to the TRX4 wheelbase, which is 12.3"
