Does anyone have an updated parts list needed to upgrade a 2020 Tundra Crewmax from the 26 gallon to the 38 gallon tank? Looks like I need part number 77001-0C120 for the tank itself. Is anything else needed?

I just took it to an auto shop to upgrade mine. Referencing parts from other thread.
    Purchased but did not use:
7714408010 fuel pump retainer. Reuse existing
776010C120 middle fuel tank strap. Reuse existing
776060C040 skid plate did not fit. Still need to look after market for something.
    Parts used:
    770010C120: 38 Gal fuel tank
    771690c010: fuel pump gasket
    776010C110: front fuel tank strap
    7765334050: fuel tank assembly pin
    90119A0249 x3: bolt w/ washer
    510380C040: fuel tank support
They also charged $12 in shop parts, not entirely sure what that was.

    Good stuff!

i’m looking to try to get and SR5 without all the extras but I can only find them in the 26 gallon tank. So I’m looking to get a 2021 tundra SR5 and swapping out the 26 for the 38 gallon.

Posting for future reference. 26 gal tank is killing me.

I was quoted over $4k from local dealer in parts. He included EVERYTHING. Yeah no.

Are you guys for real? I’d have to win the lottery to be ok spending that kind of money for an extra 12 gallons of gas. And even then I’d hold my nose. Do people actually do this?

How much do you have to hate getting gas to consider that “upgrade”.” Even on my 37s I get 300 miles to a tank which generally takes me about two weeks to accumulate. I get some people drive more than I do but still, my ass is ready to get out the truck and stretch my legs after a 300 mile drive. Ten minutes later I’m back on the road. Where’s the benefit to this?

Ok fine. You doing that every week? I’d be taking me a few full gas cans on a trip like that or driving back to the nearest station mid week to fill up long before I paid 2g for more gas.
Also, I’ve seen several other posts here that guys with the 38 can’t seem to use that full amount. They run till the dash says 0 miles to empty then only put 32 gallons in. I can run my 26 damn near empty. I’d be pissed to fork over a ton of money to carry around extra gas I can’t use that takes away from my payload.

I get your logic for what you’re trying to communicate but I plan for what I built trucks for. I wish I was going every week. Lol. I also take a spare 10 gallons of fuel.

And I get your logic coming from one of the most expensive places to live in the country. But not everybody does, nor do the majority of Tundra owners take week long trips to BFE regularly. And, the Toyota owner community prides itself on making smart financial decisions, i.e. buying one of the longest lasting and most reliable vehicles on the market. I am just surprised there’s enough guys out there apparently willing to shell out thousands to have to stop for gas 30% less often, that the parts for this upgrade are mass produced.

I was actually kinda interested in swapping out for the 38 which is why I’ve followed threads about it. Learning the cost dramatically reduces my interest level lol.

Well for one thing if you’re buying a tundra right now in this crazy world it’s about $5000 diff to get a truck with the tank versus 2000 and parts.

Not to mention there is a value in this upgrade since people like myself, who dont need extra gadgets and a sports car console in the expensive packages, but still want the bigger tank. Toyota is dumb for not allowing the larger tank option without the console shifter. Makes 0 sense. I like the column shifter and bench seat and can always stop sooner for gas, but I would prefer a larger tank. There is no way around not having a 6th seat though which is why I settled on the 26 gallon. Ram allows you to get a 50 gallon tank and Ford is standard with 48.

Get the tank from a wrecked truck in the junk yard. I got a 38 gallon tank from a wrecked truck with only 700 miles on it for $250. Granted it took some research time to find it, but well worth the savings.

That’s a really good point because I’ve found certain combo’s (bench seat only) with and without a 26 Gallon tank. Seems more often than not they are putting together the SR5 package with the 38 gallon tank only with a TRD package. Which makes sense from making money standpoint but it’s ridiculous

Surprised it took this long for someone to mention this. Find a truck totaled on the front end and you get all the parts you need, maybe need a new gasket or 2. Spend a little time in the dirt and you can save thousands. Heck I'd do it for something like 100 bucks if someone nearby me doesn't want to get dirty. So 350 and you've got yourself all the parts without getting dirty.

For those of us that tow, the big tank is a yuge upgrade. Pulling 6,500 lbs, my mpg is about 8 and with the smaller tank you're filling up after 2 hours since reserve range is significantly reduced. So, every two hours you now have to find a fuel stop that can accommodate the truck and 35' of boat and trailer behind it. Yea, stopping for gas is a pain in the ass.
As to convenience justifying an upgrade, I don't have to do something every day to warrant upgrading. I can decide after a single experience that I don't want to do that again.

You need the SR5 "upgrade" package to get the 38 gallon tank. The sticker price of that upgrade is $945. Along with that you get bucket seats, center console with floor shifter, power drivers seat, T/T steering wheel, alarm system and engine immobilizer. Probably the best value add on package Toyota sells. Seems to me those who want the larger tank but don't want the "expensive package" are under-informed. Now if you need to seat 6, that is another story.

Unfortunately one of the problems now is that they/Toyota is combining SR5 package with a TRD off-road package which is $3500.

Yeah mine is bundled with the TRD Sport package. I am sure one could (or could have) order a SR5 with just the upgrade package and nothing more. Makes sense for dealers to stock the cosmetic packages...that is what consumers want...and also IMO most consumers are not willing to order then wait for the one they really want. If I owned a dealership you can bet that is what I would be showing on the lot!

this upgrade is worth it if you can source a cheap 38Gal gas tank (salvaged truck /CLs'etc..) and do most of the work yourself or have a small shop do it imo

    4K no
    $800 ish yes

When searching for my truck, 6 seater, 4X4, black, and crewmax were my must haves....
It was already pretty difficult to locate a 6 seater by itself AND then meeting my other must haves made it even rarer...LOL the dealership found one and referred to it as a unicorn truck!

But like @BlackSheep argues, although I can see some making the argument, I can't justify the price tag associated with this upgrade.
I'm still interested in doing the upgrade with using a used tank from salvage yard, but it certainly has fallen down my list of priorities as far as upgrades are concerned.
