As you know if you've seen my build threads, I like to go outside the box. Not sure if I've ever seen this one done yet. Mounted 37 Nitto G2's on 18x8 60mm off-set OEM wheels, no wheel spacers, no body mount chop. Bought some next to new take off OEM UCA's and did some custom clearance mods to gain .21" clearance over stock. Pressed out the ball joint and had John over at Auto-Fab do some customizing to the outer edge. Still currently have Billy 5100 at top setting up front and custom rear suspension lowered 1-1/4" in the rear from stock. Did some testing with full stuff and droop and no rubbing issues front or rear. Figure with these 37's, I have about 2-1/2" more ground clearance at the diffs over stock. Still have some suspension mods in the works. More to come !!!!!

Not real world stuff and droop testing, but best I could do in the city.

That upper control arm is very scary to me. I would really consider and think twice before you drive it like that, especially with the added weight of 37" tires.

I know it is expensive as hell for suspension mods, especially on a Toyota and one of the few reasons I do not run them for off-roading (at least the kind I like to do).

Truck looks great though, and I give you mass kudos for the thought process.

That picture is deceiving. It is rolled over at the edge just like the factory. The build shop that cut and welded it has been building and racing off-road trucks for over 40 years. I would not have installed it if I thought it would compromise any of the structural integrity or the safety of me or anyone one the road. I have been playing with cars and trucks way to long to pull a dumb move. Good eye though and appreciate the concern..........

Alignment didn't change at all. Just a swap off OEM UCA for OEM UCA with slight mod. The ball joint is in the identical spot. Only reason it was pressed out was to do the welding. It returned to it's identical home. That's why I was saying the modded UCA just gave me .21" clearance gain. Nothing else changed. Sorry that wasn't clear at first.

Actually I'm pretty jelly you got 37's on there. I'm still running stock tires. I need to put a lift on first and even then I'm only going with 35's (I hope).

I run around in the desert and have always been a fan of keeping it low, with as big off a tire you can stuff in there. Granted I have done the 4:88 gears upgrade, which is a must especially with 37's. Some trucks look good lifted too, but I prefer to drive on and off-road with something more stable. You will get more research off this forum then anywhere else. Good luck.........

This is some fine work bro! I agree 100% with keeping it as low as possible. Easier on slopes and less likely to roll, for sure.

Thanks Brian. I think so many people think our 5.7 can handle anything. With the transmissions designed the way they are today, Re-gear is a must especially at 37's. I always try to research and use common knowledge prior to making big changes. Are they always right ? No ..........but at least I thought about it first..........Thanks to this forum for LOTS of answers. Couldn't do it without this team !

Yea the gearing chart should be examined for any vehicle if you want to jump up in size.
Went with 4:56 gears in my Tacoma when I jumped up to 35s.

I run 5.39's and a 4.3:1 transfer case. When I go LS2, I may need to change the axles a bit so I don't break everything.

That makes sense. Just in time for the first rotation. Just rotate 37's onto your rims, and your current tires rotate to the for sale forum. Makes perfect sense to me.

You don't have to. But you should, at least for the 37's. Otherwise it'll feel sluggish and hunt for gears a lot.

Duuuude that looks awesome! Pretty jealous. If my pockets were deep enough id give this a dabble. I only say that because I get a little wild and if I had your setup of drive it like pastrana drives trophy trucks lol. Nice job brotha.

4:88's are the only aftermarket gear choice at this time and I put them in right after I installed my 285/75R-18 G2s. That's equal to a 35" x 11.25 wide. Our 6 speed auto trans really likes re-gear for any tire over stock. Less heat on the trans and our motors like a little RPM. 37's = mandatory re-gear. Hope this helps.
