    Hello everyone!!

Just purchased a Tundra and I am having the hardest time trying to figure out wether I should put 33” tires or 35” tires on. I plan on doing a 3” front lift and 1” rear lift and running 20x10 wheels but i’ve heard from people that I can absolutely not run 35” tires unless I chop the frame, but others have said differently. Pleas help me put because I am ready to order these parts and need to figure out what to buy, really looking to get 35’s but if it is not possible than i’ll have to get 33’s.

    Thanks guys!

    Alot of them
I run 285/70/18's (34's) on an 18x9 0 offset with a 3/2 lift. The 295/70 is popular as well. I don't know what size that correlates to with a 20 inch wheel. Others will chime in. Check out customoffsets.com for ideas as well.

For you it's all going to depend on the offset of the wheels. That is what will make the decision for you unfortunately.

I got 35s on my truck with positive offset wheels, no cutting necessary.

You’re not chopping your frame. You’re cutting off an itsy bitsy teeny weeny tiny little piece of metal off your cab mount and welding back a piece to cover it back up. 35’s!!!!

I have a 3/1 lift with 35's...cut body mount and welded block off plate, remove those mud flaps, a little trimming and push the front wheel liners forward and your good to go 20200509_182202.jpg

This is what we cut off the frame. Near the body mount.

IMO, 33" tires on a 3" lift would look too small (I used to have 33" tires on a 1.5" lift and they looked small).
I just went with 295/60/20 (34") on a 3.5" lift with 20x9 +20mm offset wheels. With that setup, I only had to trim the front liner and I still kept the front mudflaps. I could fit 35" tires, but I would have to use bumper shims to push the bumper out further.
The wider you go with the wheel or the lower offset you run, the more trimming that you will need to do. Doing the cab mount chop is not a big deal. It is very common.

What 3/1 lift do you have, looking at a few different brands can’t seem to find one that’s particularly better.

I’d stay w/33’s. Been there done that. 35’s slow you down to much. Just my opinion though.

    35s and don’t look back.

I had 295/70/18 on oem alloys and they looked good.

went new shoes and got 18x9 methods +18 offset with 35” ridge grapplers

had to do the BMC and adjustments to the inner fender plastics, no cutting but the heat gun molding method and new screw holes.

I did notice power loss from 285’s to 305’s.. not a lot, but Glad I didn’t get 35’s? FWIW the Ridge grapplers are impressive! But spendy!

I have 3/2 lift; 285/65/20. I had to remove mud flaps and heat gun the front inner lining. All is well. But...….I wanna swap things up and go 18s with 35s. I'm trying to find out where I can get a cab mount chop around Charlotte NC?? Anyone?

    Hello!
I was thinking the same setup.
Did you have to chop or remove anything?
Could you please send me a picture?
    Thanks.

I’m installing 3”/1” setup next week. Here is the difference tire size calculation shows between what I’m considering:
    275/60-20 33.0in
    285/65-20 34.6in
Question is what kind of gas mileage is everyone getting with either tire? Also, if you guys have a toolbox in the bed and running either tire size is there a perceivable loss of power; especially with the 285/65/20’s?

    Too many, but not enough....
I vote 33. With 35s there a whole lot of other stuff you would need/want/should do like chopping stuff, regearing, speedometer correction, big gas mileage drop, extra stress on your truck components, will need to buy new rims, not to mention 35s are way heavier weight wise and on your wallet.

If you want them then go for it. Or if your an offroader. I offroad on 33s no problem, my speedometer is dead nuts and my gas mileage didn't take much of a hit. I do agree that 35s and rims looks badass but to me it isn't worth an extra 5 grand.

You could also do 295/70/18. Way cheaper and almost same size.

    Edit
With 33 bfg ko2, stock sr5 steelies, 2 inch lift front and 2.5 inch rear, full armor, family of 4, winch, diamondback, molle, some offroad gear and baggage and a steel front bumper I still can get 17 or 18 mpg light highway cruise on trips and average 15 with my normal driving 75% highway. My city only is real bad though with the weight. Maybe 12 or 13.
