Has anyone takin their 2wd off road? I had an 06 4wd and I’m an avid upland bird game hunter/big game I don’t go off roading to off road I just go bc I need to to go hunting. Anyway I have used the 06 tundra many time to hunt and a lot of those times I’ve never even needed to use the 4wd (dry off road conditions) therefore I didn’t spend the extra money on my new tundra for the 4wd option bc for me the places I go the 2wd drive does great off road. These trucks are so dang strong they will surprise you. Anyone else use there’s off road with a 2wd???

For things like fire roads and such you should be fine. I would avoid things like wet grass, deep puddles, or thick mud. The best upgrade you can get is a good set of tires, an all terrain would do fine. I won't say which one to get because you'll get an avalanche of favorites. Anything will probably beat the stock tires once you're in the dirt.

Even the stock tires, aired down, do a great job. Nannies off, consistent skinny pedal. No hard stops in sand to avoid creating a pile in front of the tires. But yeah, no puddles too deep to see the bottom, no thick mud.

Not if stuck from a dead stop.
I have been stuck in Campgrounds after the morning dew fell and needed 4wd to get moving.

You might not need 4wd until you really do but then I bet you wish you had it.

I do not plan to get another 2wd truck.

A good posi rear does wonders, but yes, it is no 4wd. Keep a shovel and traction boards with you. Simple things like making sure someone knows where you are offroad and not deviating from that plan at all, (yes, even if you know a shortcut and is getting late) can keep you safe and friends/ loved ones at ease.

No joke to me and with a trailer attached spinning from a dead stop is pretty common.

When it's dry and traversing standard grade off-road trails, I never use 4wd.. just don't need it. As soon as I hit water/mud/steep stuff, 4-high is fine, and very rarely do I ever need 4-low... but that's me personally, as I'm sure MANY of you out there do much more true off-roading than I do. But yeah, just use what you need.

Some good aired down tires, shovel, boards, and a winch if you wanna go the extra mile.
