I am trying to get long tube headers for my 2008 Tundra 5.7. I found some obx 4 into 1 headers for $700 which is right in my price range and I am wondering if these are a good idea or if anybody has had any experience with obx headers.

I can’t speak for Tundra parts, but OBX is mid-tier product at best in the aftermarket Honda world. Doing headers on these trucks is a big job, I would want the best quality I could find and hope to only do it once. You’ll also need to figure the 02 sensors out, if they aren’t placed in the right spot it’s going to make the truck run like ass. I believe @Downytide has some experience with this.

If the 02 sensor isn’t close to the factory location it causes and oscillation to occur with the AFR readings because HPTuners doesn’t have the ability currently to alter the delay that’s created. It makes some trucks surge at idle and can make tuning a proper afr harder. There are a lot of hidden costs in headers (a proper tune not just a pig rich can tune, most of the cats included with headers are barely adequate so reusing the factory cats in a custom mid-pipe is a much better option for a DD, and install if you’re not doing them yourself) enough to get you atleast halfway to a supercharger.

Keith, @dirtydeeds , had the O2 figured out when he teamed with JBA to make longtubes for the 5.7 back in 2012 or so.

A great reason to spend a bit more and get a quality product with r&d behind it.

I spent way too much time and money on my Stainless Works long tubes, only to find out the O2 sensor locations weren’t quite right, so the car was idling like absolute garbage. Keith pointed me in the right direction on where the O2 sensors should actually go. So in short—just buy it from Keith and save yourself the headache. Headers are the kind of thing you only want to install once… unless you really enjoy frustrations.

We sell mid pipes to connect the rest of the exhaust for only $500. But we don’t force you to buy them like other manufacturers do.

Plus; with countless options for those mid pipes, catted, non catted. Resonated. Add a muffler into them, extra o2 bung. Etc.

we prefer people to call to order that portion of exhaust so you get exactly whatcha need. 760-877-4234.

How long does it take for the @dirtydeeds headers to be made? I saw there was a lead time. I wanted to learn to tune it myself and get the right afr and fix the throttle delay. So what else should I buy to do the whole install and tune all in one day. I am also worried about the air injection system causing problems.

    Give Keith a call (760) 877-4234
It's the best way to get the info you need.
If your using hpt you can set up your tune. Do some things with SAIS system if you want to delete. The air injection works fine with the LT's.
