Wanted to go up one size on my Pro so I went with the Ridge Grapplers, 275/70R18, but due to the weight and stiffness of the 10 ply E load rated tires the ride went to crap, gas mileage tanked, slower acceleration, etc. etc. Really miss the smooth ride of the stock tires, but am still looking for something one size bigger (taller), More aggressive tread pattern, but not E-rated tire. Does such a beast exist?

I did the same I went from 275/65/18 to 285 70 18 then 295 70 18 and went back to 275 65 18 stock Michelin Ltx at2 and ride is much better but I do no think any one makes a tire 275 70 18 or bigger in non LT ibdod all these sizes in less than 9 months

The 295 70 18 did look real bad ass but ride was terrible and mpgs were about 11 to 13 mpg now I'm avg 16 mpg daily driving and trips is at least 20

The only non LT tire I can find in the 275/70/18 size is the general grabber apt.
    https://generaltire.com/tires/light-trucksuv/grabber-apt

In an effort to help and try and salvage your current situation, have you checked what air pressure your current tires are at?
Have you adjusted your MPG calculations by factoring in the size difference of the new tires?
I’ve heard of some people getting LT tires installed and the shop would max out the air pressure which is A. not necessary on a half ton and B. will cause the ride to go to shit.
I would try reducing the tire pressure to 40 if it is higher than that.

If you haven’t factored in the size difference of the new tires than your MPG calculation will be completely incorrect. You can no longer rely on the info screen for MPG figures. Check your MPG by calculating between gas fill ups.
I think the Oe tires on the pro’s is 275/65/18. The 275/70/18 is taller than the Oe tire by 3.4%.
So, fill up your gas tank. Reset trip a or b. Let’s say you drive 200 miles then refill and it takes 17 gallons. First multiply 200X.034. That would be 6.8. So you actually drove 206.8 instead of 200. Doesn’t sound like much but that would be the difference between getting 12.5 mpg or 11.5 MPG.

I run 275/65R20 LTE on my crewmax at 50PSI. Ride quality is fine. I get 12 city, 16 highway, and 14 mixed.

I tried this as well right before I got rid of them and didn't change anything at all.....I was first running them at 38 psi then the shop told me to try 45 and then 50 I think ride got worse but mpgs were the same which was shitty.....lol.....i think the best thing to do or if I was to do this again would be to re gear to 5.29s......I couldn't stand any skittle slope and truck would down shift

Not too surprised about all of that except the ride quality problem.
Maybe mine actually rides like shit but I perceive it to be great because I’m used to driving this for the last 12 years...

Looks like Big O also has a p rated AT tire in that size. Anyone have experience with the Big Foot A/T?

You can get ridge grapplers in standard load or C rated if you don’t mind getting 17” wheels also. I’m getting 285/70R17 in C rated tire because it has 16/32 tread depth. The standard load tire has 13/32 tread depth.

What about the Nitto Terra Grappler in 295/70/18 in SL? They only weigh 50 lbs and might keep that stock feel with increased size. This is the tire I think I'll eventually go with because I also don't want an E load tire.

I actually pulled the trigger on some General Grabber ATx, 275/70 18 E load. Impressions after one day are very positive.

Keep me posted after a few weeks. I really am trying to avoid an E rated tire as well but there really isn't any options unless you want to go up to 295's

Asked this same question just a bit ago....tallest P or SL tire I could find in 18" was a 265 70 18 wildpeak, narrower of course and only abit taller 32.6". Still humming and hawing on the purchase...just want the Ps to last mileage wise

Not all e-rated tires ride the same. I would avoid Nitto tires if soft ride is wanted. Loved my Trail Grappler, but definitely it was not designed for soft ride. My wife has GY DuraTrac and they seem to ride way softer.

Any brand suggestions for NON E rated 295-70-18”

I just bought Falken wild peaks, they look great but a bit rough ride...thinking I should have bought the terra Grappler g2 non 10 ply
    Also 48 pounds too

Wanted to chime in with another experience. To preface this is 98% on road and I corner on the faster side. I got the Fallen wildpeaks in a p rating in the stock steel wheels size, and I can NOT RECOMMEND it any more they just seem to soft in compound and sidewall. I went that route to save some money, but it's ending up that I will have to replace them not even 10-15k later. Some of that could be fixed with a better alignment I will concede for the fronts, but they don't look to have much tread left in general. I also had to run them with about 40 psi to get a good ride, which led to uneven tire wear on the back tires (the center wore down very quickly and the outsides look like they are getting close to shot as well). Also, if I let them drop down in air pressure much at all (36-37) the ride gets bouncy to the point where I can just tell without looking at tpms. I will definitely pay a bit more and get a heavier duty tire next time, I guess you never know till you try.

I felt that e rated tires corner better as well, however i was towing recently, so my current p rated tires were set higher on air pressure, and they actually felt just as good in canyon roads as my old e rated did

Same. I didn't care about the mpg loss and actually liked the E load for cornering but since it's also the family hauler, long highway trips were made a lot worse. I considered replacing our second car to take on that role but I didn't want to give up the flexibility of all that bed space with a cap

If it weren't for that I'd have stayed with 295 then a regear.

The OE size michelina do fine on the occasional forest service roads I drive. In fact, the original tires took me across the country to Utah and back where I drove on some fairly rough and rocky terrain. All this while loaded down at max payload.

I guess to each their own.
I love the ride, thick sidewall, and foul weather security of the Falken at3w. Have had 275/70/18 and 285/75/18. I do have special needs now with continuously hovering at GVWR and am looking to find rougher roads, but they also ride and handle quite nice on the road. I’m looking for a truck ride and handling though, not a Cadillac poof. For example I also appreciate the firm ride of 740lb rated front coils. My wife and daughter don’t really notice ride quality unless there’s and extreme issue. They usually just fall asleep while I drive. Also why we have a Honda Pilot for paved road trips
