    Hello!

interested to see if anyone has had bad experiences with 2023 build quality issues? (Body gaps, paint issues, interior rattles, center console, driver seat, etc) I know the 22 model year had some hiccups and curious if any of that rolled over into 23. I had a chance to get a 22 a few months back and passed to wait for a 23. I finally have a Magnetic Grey Limited coming in for me next month!

My '23 LE still has the gap in the rear window weather stripping, only has one auto dimming side mirror, and the USB port on the dash fails to recognize my USB stick 25% of the time on startup, requiring me to unplug and reinsert.

It may have the engine/trans clunk on cold start, and has bogged down once when I was pulling into traffic from a slow roll.

I still really like it, but it's no Japanese-made 4Runner. I hope the QC gets to where it needs to be.

Thank you! When was your 23 built? As far as I know, the auto dimming mirror is only on the drivers side. It isn’t supposed to be on both sides, that’s what the brochure says. Thanks for your input!

I could have sworn the specs online stated auto dimming mirrors (pl), but now I see it's singular. You get two with the tow mirrors, though.

My 2022 was a September build. Looked it over well before purchase and after 3 months and 3k no trim, finish or rattle complaints. The wind noise on the A pillar is noticeable but not really worse that other tall vehicles I had previously.

I did have a coolant leak from a defective part that was worrisome. I contacted 1-800 Toyo when part arrival drug out from 1-2 days to 8. Got case number from a guy not in there a hemisphere and zero followup. Also concerning

it used to say that but they changed it to dimming mirror. my spec sheet printout now only shows "mirror" instead of "mirrors"

So far I'm very happy with my 23 that was picked up 10 days ago. A part from my phone disconnecting/reconnecting to Android Auto intermittently, I have no complaints or issues with the truck yet.

Wow, I echo all that you said, @Bourbonator. It's like you read my mind + I traded in a 5th Gen 4R Trail for the Tundra. I like my truck a lot. I accept the issues and can ignore them since (crossing my fingers) engine+transmission have been performing smoothly.

Nov 11, 2022 build date of 1794 TRD here. Zero problems so far. Ok maybe the lag/surge a couple of times, minor but both from a slow rolling stop. I caulk it up to trans hunting at 1-2 mph and taking fraction of a second to decide.
    Love this truck so far.

I guess I am one of the few lucky ones. Feb 12, 2022 build date, TRD off-road limited in lunar rock. No problems at all, nada, after 11k miles.

That said, my vin ends in 007799, so may be they paid special attention, who knows. :D

Toyota changed the verbiage to say "Heated power auto-dimming outside mirror", it no longer states mirrors. They refused to acknowledge their misrepresentation but felt it was significant enough to change.

It did say mirrors in every piece of literature even the manual. Toyota was adamant I was misinterpreting what "mirrors" meant every time I challenged them on it.

I've got a 2022 CrewMax 4x4 TRD OR. Delivered first week of October. Only issue I have is a rattle in the doors when the radio (bass) is turned up. No other quality issues, 4500 miles.

At 10k miles in my 22 Sport. Just the annoying clicking sound in the headliner and transmission reflash for the hesitation TSB if you wanna count that.

I haven’t had any issue with my ‘22, built in August on a Tuesday.
I think small items might be improved in ‘23 but for the most part issues that need to be addressed are minor. I’ll take a chance of door wind noise over Ford cam phasers or GM lifters going out.

Eary 2023 build. Driver side door wind noise is still there window seals don’t fit well, few minor rattles here and there. The side windows sorta shake within the frame over big bumps as the doors flex and the gap is larger than the glass itself. Back seats have a few wrinkles in the fabric. These are all minor gripes, the powertrain is good hasn’t given me any trouble. But the fit and finish leaves something to be desired overall.

That's the thing, though. These are *NOT* things that should exist in a truck that Toyota aficionados waited 15 years to buy, from a company known for its build quality and reliability. I'm willing to let them slide for 2022 only because they along with the rest of the world were hit by COVID crap...but they've had a year to work issues out.

It's almost like they doubled down on the engine/transmission...and focused more on the 'looks' of the interior than the actual quality. :/

I know I’m responding months later, but I’ve had my 23 Tundra hybrid since Feb. I have absolutely no problems so far with the engine/tranny at almost 5k miles. I do though have a problem with the fit and finish. I noticed wind noise coming from the passenger side of the truck after a long vacation trip last week, and after inspection, I noticed that both the driver and passenger side stripping is coming off, worse on the passenger side. Has anyone else had this issue on there trucks?

I have had no issues with my truck, love the truck and I came from 2 Raptors to this. It does have an open recall which could burn the truck to the ground so there is that. So far so good.

No issues with my 2023 Pro built late June. Nice and quiet on the highway and so smooth and powerful.

Are you talking about the rubber window runner that's around the glass? If yes then I've had my driver side window runner replaced twice already as I hear whistling noise when driving on highway.. It's good so far after the second fix a week ago

I have some first hand insight into the differences between my specific 2022 Tundra and my new 2023. Both trucks are identically specced but one model year apart, and I drove the first truck for 13 months while putting about 16k miles on it.

The most noticeable difference to me is the A/C. I purchased my 2022 in June 2022, and was almost immediately struck by how anemic the A/C felt in comparison to my other vehicles. It was evaluated by the dealership and found to be “within spec.” This had the consequence of making my ventilated seats feel similarly underwhelming as the ambient air that was being ventilated was not as cool as I’d hope. If I had stayed in that truck, I would have tried that Carista “set point” change some have mentioned with success. In my 2023, the A/C performs MUCH better. I can comfortably keep the temp on 70 and Auto, as in every other vehicle I drive, and be satisfied. On hot days, I may choose 68, but I feel the A/C can actually keep up in my 2023. Similarly, the ventilated seats are far better as the air it is ventilating is cooler from the get go. I wish I had objective temp data to give on this, but it is an easily felt difference going from one truck to the other.

My wireless Qi charger actually stays connected and charges in my 2023. Same iPhone 13 Pro, same case. It does get warm under extended use, but that’s the nature of wireless charging. In my 2022, the charger would disconnect with either my wife or my phone consistently after about 5-10 seconds. Every. Single. Time. Not so on the 2023.

Subjectively, rattles from the center console are eliminated on the 2023, and door rattles from the speakers are reduced. The rear window trim gap remains identical, but the 2023 seems quieter at highway speeds.
