Meh. I did my differential early at 15,000 with MOTUL. MPGs are the same.. im using Chevron e10 87. Hes talking about engine braking when he lets off the gas. Either hes resetting his MPG counter before downhill sections or coasting at 52mph on highway only.

I highly doubt it, but a 2wd, street tires and lower speeds.....maybe. I really doubt it though. I was one of the people that got better fuel economy than most until my front differential was replaced. Then if I could get 15 mpg on the highway I was lucky.

No evidence on his MPG, so I would call bs.

Goodness. I made it about 2 minutes into it and couldn't take Dude ANY LONGER. But from the title of the thread I too will throw the bullsh!t flag.

Anyone see the silver (or was it gray?) TRD Tundra in the background, that he passes, at the 1:45 mark??

According to my mgp gauge since i got my new tires and reset it, im currently at 14.9. Was at 15.2 a couple days ago. That was before i had to go into town 2 or 3 times.

14.9 is pretty good considering its been city and highway miles.

I kind of feel like, if this kind of mpg were possible, Toyota would’ve figured out a way to do it. Memo to Youtuber: It takes a unique form of arrogance to suggest that something as simple as a gear oil change will have this magnitude of impact.

Also: Jiffy Lube employs meth heads. That is all...

Lol, never heard of gear oil impacting gas mileage, plus it’s not like he was getting poor gas mileage before the oil change. It’s pretty clear he’s in a CM and I’m guessing he doesn’t have a 4WD truck to be averaging such good mileage?

I get 14.1 day in and day out city/hwy. I drove from Enid Ok to OKC on a dead calm day (a rare occurrence in this part of the country), and drove 50 miles at 75 mph w/ cruise control on and got around 15.5 mpg according to the trucks display. Then 50 at 70 mph (another rare occurrence) and picked up 1-2 mpg. Next was 65 and as expected gained another two. Figured if I kept slowing down I’d reach that magic 99. Guess I’ll never see 18/19 again cause I can’t let the Texas boys or girls pass me!

What? I get mine done at Walmart! They’ve only left the filter loose a few times and the plug out once or twice.

The friction of the differential is not great enough to see fuel economy gains by an oil change, unless his diff was full of pitch tar before.
