Lol another win for the 1st and 2nd gen Tundra. Can't imagine how annoying it must be to live with that garbage.

I wouldn’t call it garbage per se, but with all of these added on safety features it does make you wonder if drivers are becoming less aware (and cell phones are obviously a huge factor in that)

My brother plays golf with a guy who used to date this gal. Her brother's buddy has a cousin who was married to this other gal. That gal has as sister that moved to Japan and is now the nanny for a family that is good friends with Koji Sato (Toyota CEO).

Apparently that gal overheard Koji taking on the phone about the Tundra.

Tow hooks will now be standard across all trims, but will be made from FRP to save weight.
Steel tow hooks will still be available for a $600 upcharge.

New version of TSS will still shut down the engine after remote start when you open a door, unless you pay the extra $4.99/mo for TSS+.

Probably not. Unfortunately everyone (seemingly) out there doesn't care if they have a 4 ft bed as long as it has massaging seats, mood lighting, giant massive touchscreens everywhere, the fanciest leather seats (that will inevitably look horrible with cracks after a few months), pano sunroofs, and 49 inches of 2nd row leg room.

I’m betting very minor exterior changes but some meaningful interior updates. The interior has received the most criticism for being somewhat cheap looking and after I drove one that is exactly what I thought.

Because the 1/2 ton trucks as a group are by far the biggest market and they are highly profitable, the competitors are making significant update every 3-4 years. Toyota really needs to so as well.

I disagree. Why do people love Toyota and the tundra. Reliability. Why are they so reliable. Because they don’t make big changes every 3-4 years. They refine their products. Be like the but 3 your product will be like the big three. Constant problems. 3rd gen is a new design and has problems. Let them figure it out.

agreed, I think they actually need to slow down any changes that are not related to QDR right now.

there are way too many rattles in this thing, throttle lag/surge, the engine deal, I have 3 recalls total. There is way too much cheap plastic in my 70K platinum model for example, so thats something they need to improve but not totally start over for another round of BS, too much hard plastic overlaid or joining together with other hard plastics, you're asking for rattles with that style of design.

so this truck can and would be 100% awesome if they can just improve on what they have for now, there are plenty of features and options for everyone as we sit right now.

No matter what Toyota does, this engine isn't ever going to be as reliable as the 3UR, let alone the legendary 2UZ. Folks many years from now will not be able to buy a 2026 Tundra with 313k miles and, without thinking twice, drive across the country without issues the same way we could buy a 2008 with the UZ or 2010 with the 3UR, for instance.

380 HP/400 lb/ft and 10k towing capacity is enough. If you need more, you're better off getting/renting a diesel.

And you know that it won't ever be as reliable as a 3UR because ? Nearly every single one of your posts is just 3G negativity...or outright bashing. If your going to claim design faults - point to them please (educate us because every single person i've seen claim there was a design flaw couldn't point to any).

It's called common sense pal. Fewer moving parts = better longevity, for the most part, and in this case it definitely applies.

Lol at those claiming that a little 3.5 cramming 450 HP and almost 600 lb/ft with DI and turbos is going to last as long as a big N/A 5.7. Again, we won't even get into the 4.7 because it's even more reliable than the 5.7.

Face it. Toyota doesn't make things nearly as well as they used to.

Those are just your opinions - facts would dictate otherwise - many ecoboosts are well over 300k, 400k etc now - The T24 is also proving itself. None of the V35A failures your talking about is related to turbos or DI - D4S has been around for quite a while and has worked great...

    Your feelings =/= facts.

300-400k while the engine has had major work done several times.

Also it's no achievement if somebody piles on mass miles on these turbo ecocrap engines. No wear and tear if you're doing 500 miles a day on the interstate.

Who would ever buy a truck with over 300k on it. Not me. I would also wager the Average American truck owner (not you die hard guys still driving your 1990s) but the average guy/gals, probably never get over ~125K.

I think we have several Gen 3s over 100K already.

not me, I like newer trucks and blessed to be in the position to not have to buy older ones with 300/400 on the clock.

but I do get some people are in that spot, but its not a very common example, its just used as another way to bash the gen 3 in here for the most part.

Just 1 - there are many others:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbtSD3oc6Vo

Mine ('13 Ecoboost F150) needed 0 engine work after 213k miles - even cam phasers weren't an issue for me. 500 miles on the interstate is still wear and tear - the key is most folks that are pushing lots of miles are also keeping up with maintenance. My truck did highway miles pulling, hauling, city driving... hauled skid steers... Water (had property that didn't have city water) etc on the regular. In all I bet I probably worked that truck more in the 5 years or so I owned it than your truck will ever see. Driving to the mall and picking up Lattes from starbucks, then driving back to get online to trash other peoples trucks is hardly working a truck.

I remmember needing to buy older vehicles because I couldn't afford a new truck... historically toyota's have been pretty tolerant of abuse (i'd argue ford trucks as well). The V35A will get its issues worked out and life will move on.
