Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope you are ok. The new 3rd gen’s are too much of a crap shoot for me. You just don’t know if you’ll get a good one. I’d be shopping for a low mileage 2.5 gen if I was in your shoes.

Yea same, I asked and watched YouTube videos and they seem reliable but who knows and the price of one is pretty decent as well.

I can't speak to the Frontier directly. My wife has a 24 Pathfinder Platinum. The build quality on it makes my Tundra look like a Cold War Communist built vehicle.

This is my 2nd 3.5. It is very reliable. Nissan detunes it for the CUVs to increase MPGs so it's adequate for power. The Frontier has 30+ HP which may make it better

Sorry for your loss hopefully everyone is ok. If you get something smaller, I can almost GUARANTEE you’ll regret it and will be back in a full size in only a matter of time. I went from a 2020 tundra sr5 4x4 to a Tacoma trd off-road and then got back into my current 2025 tundra iForce max. This generation is hands down better than my 2020. Pretty much every aspect about this gen is better. Don’t let the 2nd genners who say the sky is falling when in reality the actual failure rate is very small. This current gen is a great platform!

Yea I know the smaller truck would not be fulfilling but new job will have me driving an hour one way and was possibly looking to downsize to maybe help with fuel cost. If I had my tundra still I definitely would have bought a used car but unfortunately things have changed.

I know others who haven't had problems with the 3rd gen will disagree, but I'd take a Frontier over it for sure. I get that the failure rate is a small percentage, but I also look at the fact that we just don't have data yet to see if the trucks making it past 200,000 miles will also be a small percentage. Both the previous gens have the proven track record of easily doubling that if you maintained them. The current Frontier engine has been in use since 2020 and seems to have proven itself reliable, like the 4.0L V6 they had before.

So for me, Frontier or used Tacoma would be the options I'd trust more if I wanted a little better mileage.

Would you buy a new frontier as of now? I’m looking at the crew sv 2wd as a daily highway commute vehicle. I may still look at the p4x

Im not a big fan of the 3rd gen refresh, cosmetically. Mechanically its sound. I had 3 frontiers. So if you have any questions just ask.

Did you have the 9 speed or the 7 speed? I believe that’s what they are.

Just trying to see how did it handle on the highway for the most part. I’ll be going to look at them in the next few days.

Oh it drove good on highway, lol it has a higher speed limiter than the tundra. One thing I will say, the steering has a "heavy" feel to it that a good number of folks dislike. Not a lot of legroom for rear passengers, no rear air vents. There is rear cup holders and power ports. It was wired aa/cp, but not wireless.

I personally loved the truck, but I needed something bigger.

Does the ac run good for a car seat in the back? My tundra was a double cab so it didn’t have rear ac vents either

I had a 2022 frontier pro 4x. Great little truck. The steering is heavy - some people are really surprised by this. The 2025 added an adjustable steering column which is an improvement. They also changed the infotainment for the better. The 22-24 screens were very low quality, with the anti glare coating peeling and really easy to scratch.

Seats were very comfortable for me (6’ tall 170 lbs). Engine was great. Transmission initially not great but a few updates and it was predictable and decent. I would think by the 2025 they’d have it dialed in pretty well.

I’d buy one again if I get to the point where I no longer need a HD truck, assuming Nissan is still around.

The a/c runs good, but it still going to take a minute to cool off in back.

I had a 23. The trans issues are a simple software flash, for any year. I had zero issues with it, towed fine also. The screen issue is no different than the tundra cluster issue. Typical low quality plastics being used. $25 bucks on Amazon and you can put a nice tempered glass protector on the infotainment of a frontier or a tundra, problem easily remedied. The 25 frontier got a wider infotainment screen, at the expense or reducing the a/c vent sizes next to it.. Whether or not that even matters I can't say. The 2025 only added telescoping to the steering wheel. So unless you're short, it wasn't an issue.

I think it all comes down to whats important to each individual, some features I dont care about, others would say is a must have... and vie-versa...

I'm at 57.3K miles on my 22. The only issue I had was my head unit started to boot up slow and then not boot up. Just before my 36K warranty was up on that sort of stuff. Got it replaced. The VQ38 V6 is a great motor. 310hp. The Frontier is over built. Dana 44 rear. Spicer drive lines. Transfer case shifts smoothly between hi and lo. Super quiet cab. I test drove the competition at the time. Tacoma was built well but weak ass and crappy tranny. Ranger and Colorado offerings at the time were meh. IMHO, the Frontier is the best bang for the buck.

I love the new refresh on the Frontier. Never considered the previous gen. Sort of fugly. The new gen has the hardbody styling.

100% agree on this. The frontier is the best choice in that size class. Engie is simple to work on and solid. You can pick up a 10/120 extended warranty under 2k, and it covers the infotainment. Cab was nice and quiet, spoiled me. Tundra was louder, so I added sound deadening to all the doors already in the trd.

I think you misunderstood me, or i wasn't clear. The 3rd gen already got a mid cycle refresh. in 2025. It added hood nostrils (non functional), wider infotainment screen, telescoping steering column, AGS and ASS..

    I was referring to that. A refresh isn't a new gen. its like 2025 is gen 3.5...22 23 24 3.0

2nf gen were fugly. No arguement.
