IDK about leather but the softex is really nice.

The softex is nice, but it's not quite as soft as leather. I like leather, but if the softex really does handle moisture and wear better it's a good tradeoff IMO.

I’m a leather snob but have really liked the softex. Very soft and feels like leather.

If I don’t tell someone it’s not leather most people think softex is leather. I can’t tell the difference

Having owned both from Toyota, I can generally agree with this.

Only saw it in 4runners and thought it was pretty gross looking and feeling.

Its meh coming from a platinum. I am driving my dads 21 limited right now waiting for the hybrid to drop (sold my platinum in November for a pile of $$). The softex seats are stiffer, don't feel like leather and are not nearly as comfortable. The seat itself is also different between softex/ cloth and leather- the platinum/ 1794 gets a more comfortable and adjustable seat. I thought my dad was nuts talking about discomfort driving long distances (he is 6'3), driving his truck from MT-Boise I was no where near as comfortable as in my old platinum's and I am 5'10

My wifes Lexus has the Softex. Its nice and feels different than "leather". I prefer it over the so called "leather"they use nowadays. Nowadays no body knows what's what or what's real leather or not.

Had softex for 4 years in my 4Runner. It looked new when we sold it which is odd because we have 2 young children. The leather in our second vehicle looks beat up. When new leather looks better, feels thicker, yet softer when touched but lacks the durability I experienced with softex. If given the option, I’d select softex. When we would have folks jump in the 4Runner, they complimented the “leather” many times.

Softex is just a fancy word for vinyl and vinyl is just plastic. If I'm paying top dollar for this truck it better be real leather imo.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I love nice leather, but Toyota has rarely used what I would consider to be nice leather. My 2007 Limited has leather and it’s mediocre quality at best. The new Softex is better looking.

I don’t know how nice the Platinum and 1794 leather will be. Probably won’t find out since the TRD Pro is what interests me. As the father of a 4 year old, who will be 5 later this year, and the caretaker of a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler: the Softex is probably the best bet for ease of cleaning and resistance to little boys and big dogs.

my 2015 4runner has softex which has 240,000 miles on it and just a few little creases on driver's side.
have had some spills on seat and they wipe right up! Better than leather IMO

my platinum 2016 has nice leather, I think they went to Lexus grade leather for the platinum in 2014. I would think the top tier stuff would be pretty nice

This is correct, have loved it in my 14, 16 and 19. I did have one seat tear through, but that was after 95k miles and very little leather care

This was my big concern too. Coming from a '19 1794, and don't like the seats in the Limiteds on down (I know, I know...but here we are). Has anyone sat both the 2022 Limited and a Plat./1794 to compare the seat comfort difference?

The leather in my 1794 is pretty nice. It’s not super soft but it’s a seat, not a pair of gloves. Mine has actually held up well also, though it’s only about 5 years old.

My only vehicle with real leather is my 2016 F150 Platinum. It feels thin and soft, kind of in a luxurious way I guess. Has held up OK, but is wearing in some spots that rub. There is leather piping that goes up the middle of the seat and backrest and it is a natural friction point. Nice looking but in the long run not a good idea to have ridges like that which will wear faster. I have the auto running boards which provide a perfect height step to get in and out with minimal rubbing on the bolster.

Sat in a friends Range Rover and the leather felt nice and thick like a belt or baseball glove. Much more durable feeling and had a nice pebbled surface which looked great.

I think in the end it depends a lot on seat design and quality/type of leather.

Im getting softex in the Limited I have on order.
