    Good evening everyone,
I realize the 2022s are just hitting the road but am curious as to if anyone else has experienced an antifreeze smell in the cab when the heater comes on.

I understand that new vehicles have some different odors and offgassing of new materials but this is definitely antifreeze. Thinking of taking it into the dealer for some warranty work but want to know if anyone else has anything similar going on.

Other than that, I love the truck.....

    Mr Man,

I just picked up my New Toyota Tundra 1794 truck from Paris Toyota - Paris Texas - had only 18 miles on it…Drove 50 miles home and by the time I stopped in Sherman - I had a crazy headache and there was a terrible - like burning smell that was coming into the cab. I thought it might be some sort of Burn-in of new parts or the first real drive of the truck. I parked it in my shop and drive my older truck home - it’s been 4 hours or more and I still have a headache - so I decided to check online about anyone that may have had a similar situation. Or did you have a similar burning smell or did it go away…Please advise - Trace - 214.726.5787

My truck had that smell for a little bit whenever I’d drive over 15miles. It has sense gone away. I want to say o don’t remember smelling it after about the 400-500 mile mark? I’m assuming just break in?.. or hoping.

Thanks Bill - sure hope so, it’s 3am here now and waking up with a terrible soar throat - going to gargle some warm salt water - it’s kinda crazy - maybe I’ll wear a mask today if I drive it…

Sometimes you’ll get a smell from the catalysts. They’ll have coatings on them that burn off as they get hot and will make a smell similar to burning antifreeze. HOWEVER take your car to the dealer to make sure that you don’t have a coolant leak in the heater core. Also check your coolant level.

This is a normal break in smell.. my truck had that smell and was gone after about 250-300 miles.

I’m at 15,000 miles now and everytime I park in the garage and walk around the front of the truck I smell coolant. Anyone else have this?

Had this with every Toyota I have owned ('14, '18, '22 Tundra, 2 FJ Cruisers, 4Runner). I suppose it is just a part of Toyota ownership.

To be honest I have too but it goes away usually after a few thousand miles. Unfortunately I don’t think this is going away.

, a genuine leak was finally found by the dealership, others claiming same thing. Might be rare, might be a wider issue.
