Signed up here on Thursday, Ordered a Talon plate yesterday morning. Delivered to San Antonio today and installed in 10 minutes with the help of my two sons.. no lift needed for my truck. After shipping and taxes was $395.

I’m sure Valhalla is a solid brand and I can’t comment on who’s design is who’s but I just couldn't wait for a plate seeing all the news stories about stolen Cat Concerters and the wait owners are having to endure for parts.

    So here’s the pics.

Hey, anything's better than nothing! I will say, that looks a lot cleaner than my aluminum v1 plates which have sharp, unfinished edges and are perforated down all the bends.

I placed an order with Valhalla 4 weeks in advance from my supposed delivery date. My truck ended up taking 2 more weeks.

When I finally received the truck, the cat plates were unfortunately delayed by another 3-4 weeks. I really wanted to give him my business because of the great reviews, and because he is local to the Houston area, but had to cancel and find someone else. Hope he can keep up with future orders.

Ended up going with “Add a Cat”, another local guy here in Houston - $350 installed with 2 different sized security bolts. Needed something ASAP since I commute downtown everyday.

Would’ve gone with Talon, but he was sold out at the time.

I had a similar situation. Placed the order and supposedly the plates needed to be remade and would be delayed.

The fact that he had a batch of plates remade shows his commitment to perfection and I wanted to support his business even though it was more expensive, but the truck came and I would be without protection for an indefinite time. Cancelled the order and went with a competitor.

Maybe I overlooked it , I see the cat converter plates but do they not also have a front skid plate to go with it (for the 2022 that can be shipped same time as the cat shield)

Does anyone what size (pitch and length) bolts are used to secure the plate to the frame? All plates come with some form of security bolt but I’m thinking of changing them and also add a dome protector to the bolt heads to make it harder to grind off the heads.

I know Valhalla said that they were still under development. I’m waiting for a front skid plate that has an access panel for the oil filter

I’m just using the hex bolts. I doubt the thief will take the time to use an Allan wrench to back them out. I would expect a more destructive response or for them to walk away.

Yeah, Allen Wrench heads with some thread lock will hold nice and tight.. I had to back out the first bolt to make an adjustment to the plate for the other bolts and with my impact drill it took a bit of time with the locking nuts.. and was super LOUD!!!!!!

I'm going to forego the powder coating on the aluminum shield from Talon's garage for now. Living in the desert, combined with aluminum's natural rust resistance I think will buy some time before I need get it done.

I will, as soon as it gets here. Delivery is supposed to be on Wednesday. I installed my TRD skid plate myself (and everything else except mount my tires). It should be pretty easy. Just a bolt-on solution.

I bought early and my wait time was about 2 weeks. I applauded Valhalla and told him business was going to explode. Congrats to him. Talons piggybacking on his success. It’s a shame, but it’s sort of how the world works.
Whatever you decide to go with, protect those cats.

The only thing I would ever buy from a place called "Taco" would be tacos. YMMV.

I agree his business is going to explode and I like the fact that he can powder coat it! BTW don't you think that the Insurance companies should be paying for this?

    Insurance pays after the loss.
Getting cat plates is buying insurance.

New to the Tundra forum, With all the thefts of cat converter here in Los Angeles.I order my cat shield from Off-road dessert eagle for my 2012 tundra. It arrived from Texas in great condition. It fit perfect on my truck. I would definitely recommend Off-Road dessert eagle.

I'm assuming you mean they should be paying for the plates? If so, I agree. You would think they'd be begging their full coverage customers to do this in high crime areas or with make/models with high replacement costs. That is why insurance is a game I'll never understand.

The forum member that had his cats stolen and his truck sitting at the dealership for 100+ days is a great example. The insurance could've spent $400 (or even $700 on the top end if he needed 2 plates like on the 2nd Gen) and that still would've been cheaper. I think he said his replacement cost on the cats were like $2k plus they've paid for his rental Tacoma for the past 3+ months. I'm assuming the insurance company is out at least $5k on the whole ordeal with both hard & soft costs involved.

It would be nice if they did cover the plates but for me personally, it’s worth the $600 just to not go through the BS of having them replaced! I don’t have an issue where I live but I was traveling this passed weekend and parked the truck in a condo complex and couldn’t relax thinking about them being taken! Hopefully between the paint, etching and the shield they’ll remain in place!
