Ended up pulling the trigger on the one from Talons Garage. He's got plates in-stock and ready to ship for the 22's...so that was the trump card for me. Ordered yesterday and shipping today. He was pretty responsive too.

Based on the response from another forum member, sounds like I'll have to hammer down (or cut off) the little installation "helper tab" on the factory skid plate. Other than that, the two plates play nice with each other.

Mine came with an Add-A-Cat shield as a dealer installed option. They're out of the greater Houston area and you can purchase direct for $350.

Out of curiosity, what did you pay? I got the same setup from Valhalla, just wanted to compare.

Quite a bit less than what I paid... damnit! I guess I just found another something to complain about.

Both plates with stainless security bolts was about $700. I had them powder coated locally for $175.

Same here. Paid $365 with shipping & security bolts. With shipping, Talons Garage was $5 less for a full aluminum plate vs Valhalla's powder coated steel plate. I may or may not powder coat the Talon plate since it's aluminum. Either way, I'm assuming it'll be lighter than the comparable steel plate. Plus, Talon said they had them in stock and will be shipping soon. Ordered mine on Tuesday, got tracking info that night but it hasn't shipped quite yet (as of this morning).

The 3rd gen Tundra apparently only requires one plate to cover the cats, hence the cheaper price. The 2.5 gen Tundra (like my 2020) requires two plates to cover all four cats which makes it more expensive. Approximately $700 for peace of mind and I’m happy with my purchase from Talon’s.

Not to add more cats to the discussion but has anyone had experience with MillerCAT cat shields?

They don’t have a 2022 application as yet for the Tundra but I keep seeing them on my dealer’s accessories wall and their website states “See why we are the only shield available to every Toyota dealership through their Associates Products program “

Valhalla appears to be quite a while out to ship, so I went with the Talons. Ordered on Saturday, and it is out for delivery today!

Talon is getting quite a few orders out of this thread. Lol. I ordered plates for my 2022 Tundra and 2022 4Runner. I didn't go with security bolts though, If they want the plate off and have a sawzall, I doubt they will be swapping to an allen wrench...

I'm glad to support a veteran run business.

Does anyone know the weight of the Talon plates? I have hesitated on these due to the reduction of my payload as well as concerns about trapping transmission heat. Guess we need to pick our poison.

Both plates combined are about 44 lbs according to my scale.

No reason other than aesthetics. Just felt they needed to be black.

Yes you can but you have to hammer down the little "helper" tab from the TRD plate so the Talon will sit flush against it. Its as thick as the TRD plate.

I was wondering about this also…what about the bolt length?

I imagine you needed longer bolts where the 2 meet?

Yes the longer bolts are supplied by Talon's Garage and comes w/ the plate. There are a total of 5 bolts that are included w/ the shield.

It seems talon plates are getting a lot of traction lately. I believe it’s because of his lead times. Valhalla shields do take longer due to it being a one man show. I chose to buy Valhalla shields because they were the original design that talon copied. I personally feel that the original guy deserves the business more as he was the innovator. Granted “business is business” but I choose to support the little guy. He’s making his American dream happen instead of riding off someone else’s success.
If you take the time to research it you’ll get what I’m saying.

Totally agree with you. Hence the reason I was an early adopter of Valhalla's Shields. 'Nough Said.

First of all, @Classy63 (Valhalla's Shield owner) is a veteran too. Worked on Apache helicopters. So there's that. Also, IIRC, the Talon's Garage guy used to work with/for Valhalla's Shield, then broke away and completely ripped off his design. Not honorable in the least, especially to a fellow veteran.

As for the folks asking if they're still getting stolen with plates attached, the answer is a resounding no. Now in the future, as more people get plates put on, who knows. But currently, criminals are going for the low-hanging fruit. Don't be the low-hanging fruit.

How certain are you and others with the knowledge that Talon ripped off/stole designs from Valhalla?

I remember going through that thread not too long ago and saw responses from both, but don’t recall anything stating that designs or anything else were stolen. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
