Good afternoon, On Saturday i purchased the 2021 Tundra Platinum fully loaded. Truck came with the JBL system and i expected great sound from it. The system sucks. Sounds like a transistor radio back in the day. I called JBL and TOYOTA , to no avail.

Have anyone try to tweak the sound to make it louder and sound powerful?

    Please help.

Or i will have to change the head unit.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I've read on here how people have changed out amps and speakers and got acceptable sound (at least to them) without changing out the head unit. Good luck!

    Welcome!
Tech12volts is popular. I went with OEM Audio+ and am very happy with it.

Welcome gentleman, I know you are new here and probably not spent a lot of time here.

The JBL Premium sound system is one of the most talked about topics on here. The other is 2019+ years having no trans cooler, the other is cam tower leaks.

There is probably hundreds of threads concerning the audio and there are a couple vendors that offer really good solutions.

But yes, I do agree the stock premium system is very subpar.

i don't have JBL on my truck but to me the stock is one of the best audio systems i've ever had in my vehicles. i'm coming from a 2006 f250 with a stock head unit, maybe that's why haha. my sr5 is a huge upgrade

    Already ordered
Kenwood Excelon DNX997XR, with Maestro RR

    for sure changing head unit.

I used Oem Audio Plus on my 2018 Tacoma and loved them, but for the Tundra they only have the sub and tweeters and a bit pricey.

I just saw they have the evolution series for JBL system for pre order, very pricey. Makes the JBL enhancement look cheap.

    Enhancement ~ 1399.99
    Evolution ~ 3399.99

    Both with 2 subs.
