Sounds like the 2022 will not have a V8 option. Despite it being "old" I'm a big fan of the 5.7 iForce. Rumour is they will debut the 2022 model sometime in February then we will know for sure. I'd like to pick up a 2021 crewmax TRD off-road before they cease production. Any idea when the cutoff would be to order one?

The sooner the better . I haven’t heard definitively about when the 2022 will start production so it’s hard to determine when the 2021 will stop .

I’ve heard it through a few sources now that retooling on the line will kick off around April...at which point they’ll have whatever they’re building for 2021 MY sitting to send out for dealers and no new trucks will be running until the 2022’s start to roll through (late fall given the amount of retooling that will go into whatever this new one looks like).

Now, that’s worth what you paid for it...just the rumors I’ve heard. But it is consistent with other auto makers when making a “generation” change.

I'll probably head over early March. I'm trying to time it with the announcement of the new gen and interest shifting away from the 2021's.

Ontario, GTA. I'm going to head out to some dealers to get info. Looking to pick up a crewmax TRD sport premium. I've seen two come and go on autotrader but not in the colour I want (black).

August to Sept is typically when new models launch. March of 2021 for a 22' would be abnormal.
3rd gen Tacoma(2016)started hitting dealers in late Sept 15'.

Not looking for a 2022 unless the V8 is available, which is looking highly unlikely. I want to get a 2021 before I can't order anymore. I know Rams usually cutoff in June for ordering model year.

This year is a bit of an anomaly, but you can still get brand new 2020's from most manufacturers. Yes you're looking at the last of the MY rolling off the line in June-ish, but you can get brand new ones for months after that and at better deals. And I'd always recommend getting what the dealer as in their stock, they will deal with you more - buy it brand new of the line and the price is the price, buy it off their stock and they just want it moved and will negotiate. With a suspected December launch for the 2021 that puts shutting down for re-tooling in May, June - so new stock should be available through September, October at pretty much all dealers.

Hit up Race Toyota in Lindsay, they have a 2020 black Platinum with heavy discount, if you need a contact, shoot me a PM.

I work in supply chain for OEM's, I and probably thousands will be able to tell you it'll be V6 only, twin turbo V6 and hybrid v6, it'll have a nice and up to date interior, TSS 2.0 (2.5 on higher trims), there won't be 8ft bed option, it'll be double and crew cab, the typical trims will survive, that means SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, TRD Pro, the interior will have 10" (I think option is 12") screen.

My plan was to buy this summer. Either through ordering custom or whats available at the lots. Needless to say I purchased mine last week. Ive been waiting 4 years to buy this truck. I wasn't about to let some pandemic along with product shortages make that either impossible or way too expensive

So in 12 years when I’m ready to buy another truck, they’ll be on Gen 3.5 and will have all the bugs worked out. ;)

Thanks! just checked online. It's a 1794 Platinum, and I'm just not a fan of that interior (sorry 1794 owners..). I like the all colour keyed bumpers and grille on the 21' Sport Premium.

Haven't made it out to any dealers yet since we're still on that 'stay at home' order so it just makes car shopping a bit more of a PITA. I'll hold out until the 2022 details are official anyway. I really do not want a TTV6, no matter what "wow numbers" and promises of gas mileage they make.

2022 will have so much more to offer than just a new engine, 2021 is basically a 2007 truck with electronics that feel like they are from 2012 time frame. I'd get the 2022 just for the crew cab with longer bed. Then again I don't buy new cars and will start looking at a 2022 when they are around $20k used in 10 years.

Will it though? Toyota generally plays it safe with everything. I'm sure it will have some fancy tech, but the TTV6 only option would be a deal breaker. I also have another new car loaded with all these new tech options, touch screen, etc. Honestly the current year Tundra offers more than I need, my daily is a 2010 FJ and the only thing I dislike is it doesn't have heated seats or mirrors.

Where did you see that the Crewmax will have a longer bed?

I hope my 17' goes for many miles. I am zero percent interested in the 2022 V6 so the 17 will be my last- until they figure out they need to bring the 5.7 V8 back in a few years.

This one seems like a good deal, will need some extra touches but price seems very right.

Lights and bumper end caps are cheap.

It also looks like Canada is getting hit the most with reduction on production, so inventory going to be tight until next year with the new model ramp up.

Definitely something to take into consideration so I'm on the move. Why wait, I already know what I want. Might go the green trail route and keep my FJ

probably from the 2022 thread where a couple of us were thinking that the latest spy pics look like a CrewMax with a 6’ bed.

Ah, so nothing concrete then? Bummer. I know that a 6 foot bed on a Crewmax would be a huge deal for lots of people.

I’ve always thought that a model right between the CM and DC would sell like hot cakes. 6” shorter cab and 6” longer bed would put it right between the two. That would still be a big backseat. And you could fit 8’ 2 by’s diagonally flat in the bed with the tailgate up. :notsure:

If you ask me, I'd call the Double Cab a crew cab...and the CrewMax is just a big-ass crew cab. Sure, the windows in the back are smaller, but the actual space in the back of the DC is pretty much par with a lot of other standard crew cabs (or at least the last time I spent any time comparing).

Yes, I would agree that a 6' bed on the CrewMax (or, as @Terndrerrr said, make the cab only 6" longer and then keep a 6' bed on it) would be (.Y.)

Not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind a little bigger bed, but I also love the huge back seat in the Crewmax. Other manufacturers are using the term Crew Cab to denote their largest cab options though.
