Ya'll not looking for sympathy but sick of crying lol
lost my Coon in Feb. Sweetest big boy you could ask for - Mr. Kitty
Put down the cat my wife and I adopted together when we first got together - Charlie. We had a special bond; loved being rough housed; 360'd, flipped. Best headbutter and a drooler when he was getting attention.
Lost a hospice pt I've been with for over a year.
    Been a rough few days

God damn, losing pets fucking hurts
Love them to death while they're around

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't have kids (and likely never will) so my pets are my kids, in a way.

To me it was 2018-19 that sucked in this department, lost two kitties.

I can't help but tear up when I think about them both, how unfair it was... but life is unfair and cruel. Right now we have two other rescues that we can give our love to. It's not about filling a void, that will not happen, it's about giving a caring home to a creature that desperately needs it, in return we receive joy and cuddles.

hope you can find peace within.

Unfortunately I can relate to this thread and I whole heartedly agree that 2020 can eat it. Lost my kitty of 17 years a few weeks ago - still hurts just to type this. Best cat I have ever had and was around most of my daughter's life so that was a difficult part for sure.

I can relate to this for sure. To be completely honest, prior to about 2 years ago, I was one of those guys thought "Yeah, pets come and go, no sense losing sleep over it."

Then one of the dogs we've owned (Domino) started limping one day, snapping at other pets. This particular dog was one of the smartest I've ever met. E.g., wife fell down the stairs while 7 months pregnant, once while I was at work. Somehow he knew to walk up to her and lock his limbs and stand there while she used him as leverage to get to a standing position to call me @ work. (THAT is a good dog.)

Anyways....brought him to the vet, thinking he pulled a muscle. Turns out his right rear leg, from tip to joint, was ate up with bone cancer. Somehow I knew that I at least owed it to him to have him put down while I was there. Last memory I have of him was them injecting him, and him looking at me as if to say "Kinda nervous...." I told him "It's OK, boy..." He just licked my hand and put his head down and went to sleep.

Man, I cried like a BABY on the way home. I'm talking ugly cry here. LOL! I ended up burying him myself by hand on our land - and digging deep enough to bury a 100# dog anywhere in Missouri is NOT easy.

Fuck why did I click on this thread. My allergies are starting to act up now.

Seriously though, sorry for your losses guys. Me and my girl had to put down our wolf/malamute hybrid 2 years ago this month and burying that dog was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

    They truly are family.

There's an old saying that goes: "Adopting one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal." They forget to mention how much your world will change. Sorry for your loss, pardon me while I go hug my kitty.

Not going to help, but can commiserate. I had to have an emergency in home euthanasia visit on 1/1/20 for my heeler. I suppose I am grateful and lucky to have had the holidays with her, but often find myself feeling like the whole thing set the precedent for the year.

I'm sorry for your loss. Maine coons are awesome animals. 2020 does indeed suck. We lost our two 14 yo dogs that we've had since they were weaned.
Had to put Troy (named after Polamalu, not Aikman, thankyouverymuch) down on Feb 29, basically old age. He couldn't get up or walk without assistance. Friendliest dog we ever had.
    P1010242 (2).jpg
Then Honey, his step sister got sick. I call her his stepsister because her mother couldn't nurse and she was raised on the same mother.
    DSC_0299.jpg
It's a horrible thing to go thru. But life without them would be incomplete.
    Feeling for you my friend.

thanks for all the kind word and memories of your fur babies - prayers for you all as well
We have a 4.5 and 2.5 year old boys so it is noticeable for sure
tough decision to make, found a potential female coon. Have always had male cats and love their temperament.
The father looks quite a lot like Charlie, he had some coon in him
